My washing machine has finally bit the dust…

My Samsung Eco Bubble 7kg (aged about 12) has finally packed in with the door seal crumbling and tearing and leaking into the drum. I guess not repairable without significant cost?

I’ve been happy with it and would purchase another, but wondered if anyone could recommend anything else please or whether they are still good quality?
Looking to spend around £400. There’s only me and my son and I live in a hard water area.

Can't you replace door seals? I'd look into that first before replacing if it's ok otherwise.

You can get a door seal for £25 and have a go yourself - it's not that bad. I replaced one on my old Indesit, the fiddly bit was keeping track of the screws!

Loads of videos online to show you how.

And if it doesn't work, you were going to junk it anyways...

40 years of buying and using washing machines here!

My advice is to either go for a very cheap one or a very expensive one.

The very cheap ones only last 2 years but are cheap.
The very expensive ones last at least 15 years but are expensive

The ones to avoid are the mid-range ones. You take a gamble buying those but you know exactly what you're getting if you get a cheap or expensive one.

Problem is great big chunks of the seal have been ripped out and seem to be caught under the drum. It won’t turn without force and seems very wobbly.

Yes I believe the Samsung was actually expensive when I bought it. The Eco bubble tech was quite new so it may be even older than 12!

Looking online though, they seem to be mid range now (around £329 on offer from Amazon).

2 years!? I've never heard of one lasting two years, my cheap ones lasted 10.
