My dryer is taking 3 hours to dry clothes

Does anyone have the candy smart dryer?

I purchased it in February but I can’t seem to figure out what the right setting is, I’ve only tried two, the first shrunk everything, the second didn’t so I stuck with it but it takes 3 hours, on discussing with others they seem to only have their dryer on for an hour and it dries everything.

Clean out the lint filters, are you overfilling it?

Yes I do and empty the water after each use also. No I wouldn’t say so, I only have a small capacity washing machine so one I transfer from there to the dryer it’s still so empty

Also is it a condenser or vented? If a condenser in addition to cleaning out the lint trap and water tank, about once a month you need to clean the big filter thing out at the bottom of the machine, there is a often a panel you pull down, then you might see some fastenings, unfasten and remove that thing, I put a hair catcher in the plughole in the bath and rinse that thing out and dry it with an old towel then replace and the machine works better. Apologies about the woolley instructions

I thought all the modern dryers take hours... something to do with energy efficiency?

Really? I wonder how others only take an hour unless they’re using older ones? Or maybe vented ones?

Do you spin well in the washing machine an extra spin might help

SuperGinger · 04/08/2025 22:55

Mine is a condenser c rating, can't remember the brand but not fancy and is quite good

Ponderingwindow · 04/08/2025 22:55

is it connected to a dryer vent? We had this problem and it was that our vent was clogged. I now just get it cleaned once a year which is probably overkill, but it made such a dramatic difference that I just feel better getting it done. It’s a job that could be diy if you are strong enough and want to deal with it. I’m not so I just have a service that does it.

SuperGinger · 04/08/2025 22:55

It isn't old either

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 04/08/2025 22:59

I'd try putting less in it, especially towels.

Ours is a Bosch and it's great, but you need to know what a dryer can cope with, and how much.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 04/08/2025 23:01

I also stick a dry towel in with the wet ones, which really helps.

SingingWaffleDoggy · 04/08/2025 23:04

We have a candy condenser heat pump dryer, about 9 months old and it takes forever to dry. Probably around your 3 hour mark.
We got this one as it was supposed to be less power hungry but I’d rather the extra bill tbh!
we use the mixed stuff setting, have done a couple of items on the quick setting before but they came out damp at 45ish minutes. It takes longer than my wash cycle (1h38m) so it’s a pain when I have a few loads to get through on my day off.

I have tried this. Feel.like it makes a difference. Do you have a manual you could peruse?
