Cleaning helps my mental health

Who else finds having a slight cleaning obsession means they can balance their stress/anxiety and feel better?
I don't have any diagnosed mental health issues but when I'm feeling down, I find cleaning stuff really helps. It's a lot cheaper than therapy.
This is new for me, I've previously been quite slovenly :'-)

I think this is pretty normal- makes you feel
in control, and you see an instant result

I find I enjoy cleaning as a de-stressor, as does my mum, as does my best friend

Obviously not everyone feels the same way though :)

Completely 100%. I am fairly certain I have ADHD and have 2 DC with formal AuDHD diagnoses. I also work PT in a challenging role so my life is VERY busy! I liken cleaning to going to the gym (I don’t do this anymore, no time). I definitely get an endorphin rush. I can border on slightly obsessive although I do not have OCD and nor would I ever suggest I’m a “bit OCD” as this minimises a very debilitating condition.

My mind is also very very busy. I can’t cope if my surroundings are chaotic. I have so many balls to juggle that I have to be tidy and organised otherwise it’ll all collapse around me. So yes. I totally think that cleaning helps my MH! I stick my headphones on and get totally engrossed in an audiobook or podcast. Two birds, one stone!
