Hoover recommendations for deep pile carpet

My deep pile lounge carpet has murdered two hoovers, a G-Tech and a Vax for goodness sake. I've just bought a Shark because I wanted the much lauded 'anti-hair wrap technology' as I have 2 teen DDs with long hair - was all excited to get going in the lounge and it wouldn't even move - I ended up dragging it backwards where I could as, stupidly, I'd put shake n vac everywhere (face palm emoji)

Really, I should just change the carpet but that's not affordable, though I could have put the cost of 3 hoovers towards it I suppose...another face palm.

Does anyone know of a hoover that could handle a shag? 😄

Have you tried adjusting the suction, when we first got ours it was so powerful it was hard to move across our deep pile. I found adjusting suction helped.

Ah, ok - thanks Julie, I'll have a look at doing that 😊

I have had Dyson, Vax and Shark in the past. The Dyson had amazing suction to begin with and it just packed up one day and it was out of warranty. I worked in a shop that had a cordless one and again suction was fantastic from new but then eventually it kept cutting out.

We have had 2 x Vax corded upright ones in the past, one we returned because the suction was so poor the other wasn't a massive improvement and that put us off using Vax vacuums.

We are currently on our second cordless Shark hoover. The first one was exchanged as it developed a fault. The second one has lasted longer, but it blocks and overheats very easily. The suction is average at best. It only picks up the loose bits and not the more trodden in ones. On full power it uses the battery insanely quickly. The anti hair wrap function is a help but the roller still needs detangling from time to time. I personally, would not buy another Shark.

Alot of brands now have anti- hair wrap technology. I quite like Hoover vacuums. I bought a very cheap cordless one from B&M a fair few years ago now and it's still going strong, it performs surprisingly well for such a small light vaccum and it's been easy to unblock and has never overheated. I only bought it to hoover the car.

I would probably get a Hoover cordless one next time but is more powerful. Henry hoovers are pretty good and maybe Miele?

I think a Henry is what you need.

Found the same with a Shark, until I found the suction button. Turned it down and it worked like a dream!

oh thanks everyone - when I checked the suction on the Shark it was already on low sadly, my carpet wasn't having any of it! I'm going to look at Henry's and Hoover, thank you 😊
