Help me get the sweat out!

Please help me get yellow sweat stains out of whites. I have tried oxy, scrubbing with it as well as soaking, and also adding it to machine on a hot wash. I have tried bicarb paste, and that didn't work either! Sun doesn't work.
I swear Dh's sweat is toxic.

Please help!

Given all you've tried, he's got bastard sweat that corrodes (oxidises) fabric. It happens and can be fully impossible to fix the clothing.
Best trick is to get him out of whites into darks. Berghaus sports tees (and cheaper ones from others) are great for that.

It is bedding, it hasn't happened before, so no idea what is going on with him. He tried to deny it, but he had the same stains under his arms on a white tshirt. My dc has also got some sort of staining on his new tshirt (not sweat), it looks like splashes of chocolate milk or similar; cannot get that out either! 😡

Have you been applying suncream in this warm weather?
I found that there were certain brands of sun cream that left stubborn yellow stains on whites.

Thanks, I didn't know that. The bedding isn't suncream, and underarms aren't either. It is sweat unfortunately. 😒

Bicarb is for odours.
Sodium Percarbonate is for stains on whites. Works every time.

Try soaking in soda crystals as they act as a degreaser. For underarms you could try the dr beckmann spray for sweat/deodorant stains. Or the ace for whites spray which is bleach based.

dementedpixie · 26/07/2025 13:36

Are you using bio powder as that will help to shift stains too?

Theunamedcat · 26/07/2025 13:37

For the other stains try elbow grease

Thank you for your helpful suggestion, I'll look into that. If it only it was as simple as bio powder and elbow grease, although definately grease involved! 😂

Try soaking the offending areas in white vinegar for 30 mins to soften the deodorant residue and greasy sweat, then add dry baking powder and rub them together. The grittiness helps shift the stain. Then add liquid soap or washing up liquid, scrub together again, rinse in cold water. Gets the worst of it out, then try either repeating or commercial stain removers like Dr Beckmann's , Vanish or biological detergent. Never use chlorine bleach: makes it worse. Good luck.
