4.5 hours by cleaner. Is this OK?

Feeling very run down and overwhelmed so had a friend of dh clean for us.

Did living room, hallway, stairs, kitchen diner, cloakroom and two bathrooms in 4.5 hours. It looked great but on looking closer nothing was dusted. Also any surface that had something on it was left. So by the taps on the bath we had shampoo bottles. Underneath wasn't cleaned. So it's just been hoovered, the toilets and sinks cleaned and the visible bits of the bath.

I know you have to leave the the house clear and tidy but it's a air fresher on the toilet cistern. Ornaments on the windowsill. Nothing excessive. Shampoo on the bath.

Dh wants to make it regular but I think the bath especially isn't great..the top of the bathroom bin wasn't wiped either.

No……that’s not acceptable for 4.5hrs work.
If you want a cleaner, go with a proper cleaning company, not a friend.

I was a domestic cleaner when my Dads were tiny, and the first thing I’d do in a bathroom would be to move any bottles, bits and bobs off of surfaces and put them all in the bath. Clean all of the surfaces, sink, skirting boards, toilet, around the bottom of the toilet etc, cloths that have been anywhere near a toilet into the dirty bag, then wipe down the bottles etc before replacing them. Then do the bath/shower. Floors last.
A properly done bathroom clean would take me about 30 mins.

It's very hard with cleaners! There isn't much consistency I've found. I had one who just cleaned round things, had to be told every time to clean the cistern, the radiators, the skirting boards. My current cleaner though moves everything out of the way.

I used yo move everything that needed cleaning under with my old cleaner, but I couldn't move everything, eg toaster, kettle.

I also had a cleaner who said to clean skirting boards and kitchen cupboards would mean the whole job would be charged at £30 an hour rather than £20!

I could understand if it was a tonne of bottles and bits and pieces but not moving a hairbrush to clean underneath it is lame. I wouldn't use that cleaner again.

The day after I posted this, I used some white loo roll to wipe on the floor beside the loo in that bathroom and the floor was still dusty so I'm not sure now exactly what was cleaned. I ask dh to look closer and he agreed. So unsure what she actually did clean. I'm going to pay for a deep clean and save my cash for a robot hover

My cleaner does a 4 bed , 2 bathroom and a WC , kitchen , utility room hoovers through and mops all the floors downstairs and cleans hob , sinks etc in 2.5 hrs - she wouldn’t move stuff on my dressing table to dust but she would and does move the bottles of shampoo in the bath / shower to ensure it’s thoroughly cleaned

Thanks. I do feel it wasn't 4.5 hours of work. If she had moved stuff I wouldn't have checked the floor
