Eufy set up- do I send him back?

I’ve just got one on the Amazon prime deal but didn’t really know much about how they work. Turns out they need a hard floor space that’s quite big to be parked up in and even that is going to be a challenge. I have carpets other than dining room hall and kitchen so that should be ok but I don’t know if I can actually find a space to park him
where do you have yours parked if you have one ? Practical advice very welcome. I’ve given him a name and everything !!!

Ours lives in the kitchen. It's the one room that I like having done everyday so if the doors are shut at least that gets cleaned (for ages!).

Not knowing how big the rooms in your house are it is quite difficult to suggest a home for yours!

Supersimkin7 · 10/07/2025 21:39

Or under sofa.

BoredZelda · 10/07/2025 21:41

Mine is parked in a corner. Effie doesn’t have nearly as much space as the instructions say she needs.

PsychoHotSauce · 10/07/2025 21:41

We have two. The one upstairs is parked on carpet no problem on the landing. The one downstairs is in a little used corner of the kitchen.

Both are different models and have had stations on carpet at some point. It just needs a flat wall to butt up against really?

She also lives upstairs which is all carpeted.

PrincessFluffyPants · 10/07/2025 21:45

Mine lives under a little side table, he just has enough room to pass between the legs and you would never know he was there as he’s well covered by the table’s lowest shelf.

TwoToots · 10/07/2025 22:00

Make space! Throw away a chair or a family member. It will be worth it.

Bexels · 11/07/2025 19:13

Oh this is great thank you. I have been thinking and if he needs less space then he’ll fit under a hall chest of drawers with long legs ! I don’t want to rehome him !!

I have three! One parked in the kitchen next to the dog bed. Covers kitchen, dining room, living room. Don't send him back OP!

Bexels · 12/07/2025 23:29

I need to see if he’s parked in the hall, will he find his way to the lounge and dining room ? One big long room but will he know to go there ? I need to panic less and read more

Yes, if there are no shut doors or steps in the way. Once you’ve used it a few times and figured out where it always gets jammed, take a look at how to set up “no go” zones. I use mine much more now I don’t need to worry about whether I’ve moved the cat’s food or water bowl or whether it will get stuck under the kitchen table or under the TV. It’s a bit annoying that it can’t do under the kitchen table as that gets quite messy but it takes me less than a minute to do that with the stick hoover anyway.

PIayer456 · 13/07/2025 12:06

If you’ve named him, you can’t send him back. He’ll be sitting in a warehouse wondering what he did wrong, and other families are likely to overlook him now that he’s no longer on sale.

It would be cruel. Heartless, even.

I didn’t know you could do that! They ar useful but get stuck constantly and you have to clear the floor completely which is a real pain. Removing lamps, rugs, anything on the floor every time .

WanderingWisteria · 13/07/2025 12:21

@LadyJaneGrey18it depends on the model but, three years into owning mine, I discovered I could! And that it has a timer function. Before I go to bed, I now automatically nudge an armchair to the side, push a lamp back, pick up DH’s shoes and do a quick scan of the playroom for anything left on the floor and then come down in the morning to a nicely hoovered sitting room & playroom. I’ve set it for something like 5am as then it can re-charge and do the kitchen, porch & dining room just after the kids leave to get the bus. I wave them off, deal with what seems to be the inevitable abandoned books/bits of sports kit etc on the porch floor, do a quick scan of the kitchen & dining room and pick up anything that needs picking up (a stray hair bobble & that sort of thing), use the stick hoover to do under the kitchen table and then head off myself and come back to all of that having been hoovered. Since I have done this, I realise why everyone is such a fan! The only downside is that I now notice how much stuff seems to get spilled on the kitchen floor so am thinking of upgrading to one which mops as well.

They park fine on carpet

Bexels · 13/07/2025 15:14

So. There is a space. Can anyone advise if he’ll be happy here ? And have enough space? This is like when I rehomed a hamster …

Oh god maybe talk of sexy drawers has got me banned somehow. Antique wooden variety ! Fret not. Pearls can be lowered !

OP posts:
WhisperingJesse · 13/07/2025 22:31

He’ll be absolutely fine there! Smile

Bexels · 13/07/2025 22:46

@WhisperingJesse yes! He can stay. I feel quite attached already

mismomary · 13/07/2025 22:59

This is a perfect spot.he will get used to it and find his way around from there I'm sure. He might nudge the legs a bit as he shuffles home but he'll get there.

Bexels · 15/07/2025 21:44

I’m about to bring him out of hibernation and charge him 🥰
