Best way to store breadmaker bread

Timeforatincture · 09/07/2025 12:21

I have a metal breadbin with a wooden lid, but find that the bread I make in the breadmaker starts to go mouldy before the loaf is finished.

Does anyone have any recommendations for bread storage?

TIA

It does go off quicker, so perhaps make a smaller loaf? Or make 2 and freeze one?

Slice it, stick a piece of parchment in between slices and freeze. They toast up fine.

I make 1# loaves now and they disappear but that worked when I was making bigger loaves.

You used to be able to get absorbic acid - aka vitamin C yo use as a preservative in bread ? Never tried it with the ganet in the house

we batch bake and freeze these days

I just make a 1 lb loaf - it does me for two days. If I leave it longer than that it can start to dry out but will toast OK. I keep mine in something like this with a layer of kitchen towel on the base. It's not airtight at all but does stop it drying out too quickly and protects it from flies etc.

We always slice and freeze. Generally put 2/3 slices in a small zip lock bag.
