Robot Hoover and other hacks

I have two questions: I’m looking to buy a robot vacuum cleaner during the prime day sales - any models that you particularly love?
Secondly, I have 4 children (2 at primary school and 2 at nursery) and work 4 days a week. Husband works 6 days a week but is very hands on and does all the washing up/cleans kitchen and empties dishwasher every day. Would love to hear people’s hacks for keeping the house running smoothly. At the moment I do the following:

  • one wash a day
  • 2 oldest children (and husband) put away their own clothes (I put them in colour coded baskets for them to take up)
  • meal planning and online grocery shop
  • weekly cleaner
What have I missed? What do you do that makes your life easier?!

I’m underwhelmed by my robot hoover, because I just don’t have the right furniture. There’s too many inaccessible corners it can’t reach , and curved bottoms where it beaches itself.

If I hoovered every day, it would be a time saver because I could do a big hoover once a week. But I’m more of a hoover once a week girl, and it isn’t capable of doing a good enough job to eliminate hoovering entirely.

I think the cheaper brands are getting a lot better, but I think I'll always stick with Eufy. Reliable, good customer service etc.

I have a lady who does our ironing, which is fantastic.

My mother, who also had 4 children, used to send towels and bedding out to be washed and dried on the basis that it was a huge job to do at home with her regular sized washing machine and tumble dryer.

Maybe your husband does this already but for me it’s making sure the dishwasher is emptied last thing at night so breakfast things go straight in in the morning, rather than stack up. DH likes to run it overnight but never finds time to unload it before more dirty things appear.

He does run it overnight but gets up before the rest of us and empties it so breakfast goes straight in. One of my aims over the summer holidays is to teach my two eldest to do it (without the time pressure of getting to school).

I have a eufy and I set it to run a full hoover and mop twice a week and every evening under the dining table after my toddler has had dinner. That's on top of my fortnightly cleaner. I do have a lab who moults tho so it only looks clean for about 10 mins before he leaves hair everywhere. We batch cook and freeze a lot of meals to avoid having to cook from scratch every night.

Yes I think I need to get better at batch cooking. I do have a slow cooker too but only a few meals that everyone actually enjoys from it.
