Roasting Tins - I know, really exciting stuff 🙄

In the last few months I've bought 2 roasting tins. The first from The Range made by Prestige, the other from Tesco made by Go Cook.
In both cases, after only a few uses, the supposedly non-stick coating is coming off, despite using them as per the instructions. I "binned" the Prestige one, then bought the Go Cook one.
For the time being I'm lining the Go Cook one with foil, but I'm after recommendations please for a 28cm x 36cm roasting tin, not horrendously expensive.
I don't want a ceramic or enamel tin, thank you!

I have a couple of these, expensive but worth it.

I've given up on expensive ones and get the basic ones from Lakeland. Bonus that they're made in the UK. Not the heaviest but they wash well.

The trays I use for things like oven chips get lined with greaseproof paper, anyhow, as they get ruined so quickly. For things like sausages and chicken thighs, I line with non-stick foil as they also make a mess that's hard to clean. I think that things like roast potatoes cook so much better in direct contact with the tray, though, so keep fresh ones especially for that purpose.

I have a glass one from Ikea that’s about that size. It isn’t non stick but cleans up fine with a bit of a soak while we eat.

FloridaCat · 07/07/2025 16:34

Sorry, this is the size I have

Why don’t you want a ceramic or enamel tin? I only use those (as non stick is toxic as soon as it scratches or used a too high a temp) and have no issues with sticking. I think “non-stick” is a bit of a “fixing a problem that doesn’t exist”.

muddyford · 07/07/2025 16:42

I have thick-gauge stainless steel ones from Lakeland, at least 25 years ago, and they look as good as new. As long as they have water run in after use they are a doddle to clean.

I think all non stick roasting tins loose their coating too soon. I would recommend using baking paper instead of tin foil though, for some reason it seems easier to scrap all the delicious flavour off than tin foil. I put under a running tap and scrunch it up and it is totally malleable.

Edited as accidentally posted twice

I swear by my ProCook carbon steel roasting trays, got them as a gift when I moved into my new house and they're still going strong eight years later! Dead affordable too.

Not sure if they're the exact same ones but pretty sure it's this range

To @FloridaCat @PickAChew @minipie @MyLov @muddyford @JudgeBread @Duh
Considering my thread is about such a boring subject, I'm gobsmacked that you all took the trouble to reply!
I'm taking all your suggestions on board.
@MyLov It's my husband who doesn't want a ceramic or enamel tin. He doesn't really have a valid reason other than he thinks food will stick, but has no evidence to back him up!
Sincere thanks to you all! 🥰
