Hacks for a cleanish/organised home?

I have a 4 year old and a 7 month baby, oh and a dog and my house is never tidy or clean. I’m due to return to work full time in September.

what are your tips/hacks for keeping things manageable (I don’t have aspirations of immaculate.) things like one load of washing a day etc.

my mum admits that she just had a messy house until we grew up and left, but it stresses me out and is hard to live in. I am not the tidiest and neither is my husband but we do both try. So give me all the tips you have please!

I was always loathe to use wipes because of the environment but have found they’re handy for eg wiping the bin/ corners of the floor the mop can’t get.

I don’t know op, I had my house close to clean clean for a few weeks when I was avoiding writing and life, every time I was off work where the kids were in school (times I’d normally write) I was cleaning like my life depended on it and 1) you start peeempting and getting paranoid about all mess (I’ll put that cup in the wash when dh is finished with it etc;)) and 2) it’s exhausting. It reminded me of a successful diet I was on before, I looked and physically felt healthy and great, but I was exhausted, cranky and disillusioned!!!

edited to add go easy on yourself, you’ve a lot on!

When I stick to The Organised Mum Method (TOMM) my house always looks great! I need to get back into it. You complete a daily list of chores for 15 mins every day and an extra 30 mins of focussed cleaning Monday - Friday. Google the tick lists, I can’t recommend it enough.

I've also got long hair collies x 2. The younger one would go for a robot vacuum cleaner..it wouldn't fit under my bed or sofas. The more kids you have, the more organised you have to be. Another post said people are busier these days. I disagree, when I got married in 1970, I had a mangle, washed everything by hand, worked ft actually did my nursing training with a 2 year old. Didn't have a washing machine until I had second baby.
