Recommendation for AC Unit

I’m in the market for a portable air conditioning unit, primarily for the bedroom.

has anyone got one and can recommend a model/spec etc.

I think I need 9000btu or above (whatever that is) and a flexible outlet hose.

however, I’ve gone down a rabbit hole and am completely lost as to which one.

HELP!!!

What are your windows like? I have no thought to this and it’s caused issues with the venting as we have top
opening panels in our room. They work best with sash or sliding windows.

We recently got a Delonghi Pinguino because it was recommended by Which, and it’s very effective, but they do put out loads of water so as well as the hose that vents out the window, they also have an outlet hose in a bucket for all the condensed water they produce!

Thanks for the advice. I went for the Homcom 12000 in the end. We have big bay windows with hung tiles below. Have the sun beating down all afternoon that side. Hope I’ve made the right decision with my choice 😨

I had the same confusion when I was choosing a unit for my bedroom. The 9000 BTU range is usually a good starting point for a standard-sized room, especially if you’re mainly using it for nighttime comfort. One thing I’d recommend is not only looking at BTU but also checking the noise level some portable ACs can be louder than expected.

If you’re still weighing options, LS Aircon Servicing has a helpful guide on choosing the right capacity and setup for different room sizes: www.lsairconservicing.sg/. It helped me better understand how BTU ratings translate to real room conditions. I ended up going for a unit with a decent energy efficiency rating and a longer hose so it could vent properly without heating up the space again.

Hope that helps narrow things down a bit!
