Bath Vs shower

We’re starting on redoing our bathroom in August. It isn’t large and is the only one in the house (plus a downstairs loo). It’s an old cottage, 1 small single/office, 1 ave single/v small double a twin room and a good size double bedroom. There is no affordable way to get a second bathroom in - would need an extension/lose a bedroom/serious layout changes which may end up opening a can of worms. So my question is do we stick with the current layout and shower over a bath arrangement or ditch the bath and have a larger shower? We are a shower only family - partly because mu husband is quite tall and the bath isn’t large enough to be comfortable and I don’t have the patience! Do you think future purchasers would be massively put off? We would all prefer a more spacious shower but not sure if it’s going to be a problem if we decide to sell in a few years once the boys have flown the nest (age 18 and 23).

I would say put in whatever works for your family. It is stilly putting something in just in case you choose to sell in the future. Yes, it might put some buyers off and you might have an offer a few grand off in the end for them to put one in but honestly that is so hypothetical. Do what works for you- it’s your home!

There have been numerous posts about this (usually in Property/DIY) and there is absolutely no consensus about it. There are diehard must-have-a-bath people who would rather cut off their own leg rather than buy a house without a bath; and then there's the rest of us...

As PP says, do what's best for you especially if you expect to live in your house for a long time.

FWIW I took my bath out 15 years and haven't missed it since. Cramped bathroom is now comfortable shower room.
