Cleaning kitchen old ceramic tiles that are bumpy in texture. They are grey and mottled brown.

If I’m honest l have rarely ‘ deep’ cleaned the tiles. They hide a multitude of sins..2 children ( grown up now) and a Labrador dog..off lead so always muddy! So, the random mottled pattern in those dirty shades is great. BUT , they are really dirty and need a clean. I’ve just used vinegar and bicarb on one and it’s sort of worked..but it’s going to take absolutely ages..a tile at a time and although the one I’ve done looks a fraction cleaner😏 I’m wondering if there is another less labour intensive way?

A proper 20 years of muck kitchen floor cleaner ?! A Spray or rub to leave and voila… a super clean floor! Here’s hoping. Thankyou

I would use soda crystals and hot water.

Blast with a steam cleaner if you have one? Pink stuff with rotary cleaning brush then mop.

You might need a stiff hard brush - the sort you might use in a garden if doing it on your knees like Cinderella doesn’t appeal.

I did have some pink paste but it went solid, probably from lack of use. The abrasive texture might help. I did try cif and it’s not great. Where will l get soda crystals from, please?
l do have a steam cleaner somewhere but it’s a cheapo one. Might be worth a try. Thanks for suggestions

Any supermarket has soda crystals.

Need more bicarbonate of soda and crystals…also vinegar. Could l just use water with the bicarbonate crystals? Thanks

Try elbow grease

I had tiles with dips and bumps in a dark cream in colour then noticed and kind of inlays, the dips were getting darker, even though I mopped swept and vacuumed regularly. I also bought a steamer for ceramic floors all it did was splatter hot water all over...

So I bought some Pink Stuff in the tub, a hard handled scrubbing brush and a bucket of hot water with disinfectant.

Started to scrub, oh my.......the 'muck' that came off was truly disgusting, but I did the whole floor over 2 days (a lot of tiles) one at a time. Its a different floor, bright cream, clean and the grout is clean!

So elbow grease, scrub scrub and scrub....

Yes, I reckon that’s the best way. I’ve bought more soda crystals and I shall scrub them in but l think ultimately the pink stuff in a tub will be my last going over of them. The dirt is already lifting but at the moment they have a white dusty film( the few that I’ve properly scrubbed) so will wash over throughly tomorrow and maybe go over with pink stuff and hot water.
