quite new sink and I’ve got a stain from box hair dye on it. What can I use to remove? Help

I've always used 99% rubbing alcohol when I've got it on the bath or tiles, has always worked for me.

Even on plastic? Where do I get that from? Will it work if the stain has been there more than a day? I can’t get out to get any today. Wondering if bar keepers friend would work

Bleach

Nannyfannybanny · 03/06/2025 17:52

I did this, thought my DH is going to kill me. Cream cleaner, left on for a while then scrubbed with an old toothbrush.

I put neat bleach on a cotton pad. Put it on the stain and leave it. I dye my hair purple every six weeks and my white bathroom suite remains white as does the lino floor.

bleach or something like flash kitchen spray with bleach in it

carrottopper · 03/06/2025 20:11

Will it work if I do it tomorrow?

Best thing I've found is The Pink Stuff abrasive cleaner stuff in a tub.

JellyAnd · 03/06/2025 20:19

If you’d got to it before it had dried it would have come off with a baby wipe. I know not helpful now but have a pack in for next time and check around the area where you’ve applied as soon as you’re done. If you have any nail polish remover then I’d try that, failing that then bleach. Rubbing alcohol as mentioned by PP is called surgical spirit in the UK and you can get from the pharmacy. I’d probably start by trying what you have in first though.

I’m worried the pink stuff or bar keepers cream may be abrasive. Will it scratch the plastic? Thanks for these replies

You don’t need anything abrasive. Just neat bleach.

AutismMum2021 · 04/06/2025 09:19

Is your sink plastic?

Nannyfannybanny · 04/06/2025 16:42

Liquid bleach didn't work on ours, this was xl pink
