Induction hob saucepan/frying pan recommendations please

We're about to have our first induction hob installed. Can anyone recommend any saucepans, frying pan, wok/large flat based pan or steamer that work well on these hobs.

Am I right in thinking that the pan need to be the same size as the ring on hob?

No, it can be any size because the hob itself only gets hot where it contacts a pan. That's one of the benefits of induction.

You can test if your current pans would work on induction by seeing if a magnet sticks to the base of the pan. I would start by doing that and then you know if you need to replace anything, you might be fine with what you have.

If the magnet sticks it will work. If the magnet falls off it won't work. Most pans sold in the last 20 years are compatible - if you have copper-bottomed ones, they probably won't be.

We bought our stainless steel pans and frying pan in Ikea - good quality, more than reasonable price. Fine for induction hob. Not sure that you'll find a wok though.

I got a wok at Lidl. Worked so well that I got a smaller one as well.

I have a mix of fissler and aga brand. Majority I bought from ebay!

I like the aga pots, because they are flat lid and can be stacked if needed. I don't have a wok, but have a 3 tier metal steamed, a double boiler, frypan and several pots. The lids seems to be interchangable in both brands too.

To add, when I got my 1st induction, I wrongly thought it would be completely cold as soon at the pan was removed. This is not the case. Its still hot, but cooler than say a ceramic hob. It does heat up quicker than a ceramic one.

I’ve got John Lewis stainless steel but lots of my old pans were fine. It’s a bit of a myth that you need special pans.
