Hi new here ☺️ so I use persil liquid detergent in bio and non bio occasionally I used to think the persil bio was the best of the best for the white wash! But a friend mentioned in passing that she had tried the new lotus breeze daz liquid an her whites had never been brighter so I've give it a try myself an it does seem to clear stains on the kids whites a bit easier however I do use the pink stuff stain remover aswell my question I guess is how many of you use 2 separate detergents for whites an other laundry an is it worth using 2 different ones in your opinion please?

No idea. I just use one type. I don’t have that much space in my house.

Honestly, the simpler the system the easier it is to maintain. I'd keep the one I like the best. I find having too many options ends up creating clutter for me or I don't maintain using it.

I find powder detergent is best for whites as it contains bleaches that liquids dont. I use bio powder detergent mostly

I have a powder detergent for whites and a liquid colour detergent for colours. Both biological detergents.

I love having loads of detergents but in my defence , I have cut right back . I used to have a box of each bio/non bio/colour on the go .

Now I have :
Aldi Coconut powder ( bio)
Aldi 3-in-1 coconut capsual
Sainsbury 3-in-1 non bio capsual
Ecover Apple Blossom and Freesea colour liquid
Waitrose dark liquid wash
EcoEgg

Astonish powder

Ecover Apple Blossom and Almond fabric conditioner

I use the powder on most things and the Ecover liquid on dark delicates .

The capsuals are mainly for when the DC use the machine so they don;t over load it . I use a small scoop of powder (12kg machine) it never looks enough but it is .

If I want the ultimate nice scent then the Ecover Liquid and fabric conditioner together is gorgeous

Ah really? I might give a powder a go for my whites then see if it does make a difference I've not used powder for a very long time but it's only certain things that never come truly white like soles of socks 🙈 there my nightmare at the minute thank you for your reply 😀

White socks are a nightmare !
I thought I was behind all that when my DD stopped wearing them in school ( long time ag0 ) but of course now she likes those white invisible trainer socks and my DS likes white sports socks for the gym.

If I am organised I might soak them all overnight in Astonish and a scoop of powder then put in the white wash . We have white towels so they go in for a 40 Cotton with powder/Astonish .(I know towels are meant to be 60 but the other whites wouldn't survive that temperature )
And of course , hanging whites out in the sun , best self bleaching tip .

I just separate washing into whites/ pastels and darks and wash separately
I think that's the key

CallsignViper · 04/06/2025 18:23

Thanks for your replies I've actually switched over to giving powder a try I'm currently using daz powder an alternating washes bold powder an I'm actually really really surprised at the difference in a posive way from liquids it works alot better at cleaning than the liquid I was using

I use Daz powder (big red box) for all my washing. It gets virtually all stains from my four kids out every time. Maybe twice a year I might get a stain it doesn’t shift —normally red wine or grease on a pale sweatshirt of mine— and then I use washing up liquid, leave it to work for a few hours, and then chuck it in with a normal wash with Daz.

Daz deals with grass/mud stains on cricket whites, and poo stains on youngest’s underwear. That’s good enough for me!
