Any good decluttering apps for someone who gets sidetracked by life?

I am constantly decluttering and make a real concious effort to buy very little. I am a bit of a hoarder so getting rid of things I no longer get need isn't second nature.

I think I'm doing OK but this month we have lost my sons glasses and now his Karate kit. The glasses turned up at school eventually but I have zero idea where his Karate kit is. More worryingly dispite searching the house I can't find it and it must be here as it's not a school club and he changes for Karate at home.

This is showing me I have major organisation problems and I feel like I get worse the older I get.

Any useful apps or ideas to systematically go room to room to try to tackle this?

I'm toying with employing a declutter one day a week for five weeks so they can tell me how to tackle each room. Or ask a friend to body double with me. The friend has ADHD so similar strugglex

Dana K Whites podcasts, books (also available as audio) and videos on YouTube are amazing .
Look for her No Mess Decluttering Method.

Remi Clog in YouTube for body doubling though it's not live on her end i just start her videos when I'm ready and go for it. She's just lovely.

For important stuff, like your karate kit, we have a spot that is labelled. It's given it a home. Noone can deny it's it's home. BUT you need to make sure it's a handy spot because if it's a box inside a cupboard in a room no-one really uses, it'll likely never make it there! It needs to be as easy to put away as it is to just set it down.

Thanks. I like a slob comes clean. Maybe I need to listen to her as I tackle a area.

The club uniforms have a home. They hang up next to the coats in the hall. But for whatever reason, it didn't make it there and I didn't wash it either!?

Still not found the Karate kit. Where could it be?

Under/down side of beds. Behind/under sofa. Backs of doors including cupboard doors. Tumble dryer. Bottom of wardrobe or laundry basket. Could he have gone straight on somewhere else after karate last week and it's ended up in the boot of the car? Could it have ended up in a carrier bag, shopping bag or rucksack that you have seen, but not looked inside?

When I have lost something I start to tidy up rather than look for the object and generally I find it during this. Agree it might have ended up in another bag, looking like something else. Am a big fan of A Slob Comes Clean and have started listening to the podcasts from the beginning again.
Start with 1 space and don't make a bigger mess. Get rid of rubbish and any donations straight away.

Has yhe kit been left at a friend's house or at the karate club

I still haven't found it. Annoyingly it's been so long I have no idea what we did after Karate that day but it's normally taken off in one room. I suspect we put it in a bag but dispite looking in all bags no sign. I have bought a new one from Vinted.

I'm going to do a massive declutter over June. Got to be brave. I'm going to try to to set up a spread sheet and look at my worse areas first. Not try to sell things on Vinted and just go for a clean slate
