baby wipe for starters?

BlueDragonfly · 19/05/2008 22:01

if it were me i would soak up what i could, flip the mattress, remake the bed and deal with eth rest in the mornign

Ledodgy · 19/05/2008 22:02

Give it a wipe then turn over the mattress?

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 19/05/2008 22:02

Agree with BDF.

LilRedWG · 19/05/2008 22:02

Sorry, but am laughing here. You can get me back when DD craps on mine.

No advice, but would probably soak up what I could and flip - worry about it in the morning, but I'm a slattern!

Ledodgy · 19/05/2008 22:02

LOl @cross posts Bluedragon.only i'd probably forget to do anything to it in the monring!

harpomarx · 19/05/2008 22:03

fairy liquid and loads of water to get worst out

towel to mop up, flip, wash again tomorrow and get some zoflora disinfectant to eliminate remaining odour.

Heated · 19/05/2008 22:04

Same 2 weeks ago when dh came down to tell me ds had done this on our bed in front of him but the norman didn't think to remove duvet or covers so by the time I got there it had gone through to the mattress.

I used some soapy water to scrub at it with a soft sponge, febreezed it, and then dried mattress with my hairdryer. No marks or smell but I'm sure some other wise MN will know a guaranteed method.

calsworld · 19/05/2008 22:04

Mop with kitchen towel, spray on 1001 solution if you've got some, wipe with damp cloth if not (towards centre of puddle), then flip over.

If its a divan, strip and flip to dry tomorrow, if you're on slats, weeeeellll, I'd probably leave it!

If you haven't got 1001, get some! and just use a damp cloth....at least that's what I'd do.

Blot it as much as you can with old towels. Tread on them, press down hard, it should soak up most of it.

Then I personally would use some sort of upholstery cleaner if you have any. (failing that a very mild solution of washing up liquid).

Then blot again, use hairdrier on low setting if you have one.

If you have to sleep on the "wet patch" ( sorry ) then put another towel over it to keep blotting it in the night.

If still damp in the morning strip off all bedding and leave to air, hopefully near open window if weather warm enough.

calsworld · 19/05/2008 22:05

page on bicarbonate of soda uses!!

didn't know about this but googled, maybe what you were referring to?

talilac · 19/05/2008 22:10

strip, soak up what you can, leave to dry as long as you can.. Wee is normally sterile, but it needs to dry.

here houseofstrauss.co.uk/modules/wfsection/article.php?articleid=453

Lastly, you have my wholehearted sympathy this has happened to me all too often late at night (this or baby sick) and its a right pig when you're knackered!

talilac · 19/05/2008 22:12

sorry link went wrong. houseofstrauss.co.uk/modules/wfsection/article.php?articleid=453

umberella · 19/05/2008 22:12

cat litter is apparently the bees knees for this as it soaks up all the wee.
No good if you want to go to bed anytime soon tho lol!

Cappuccino · 19/05/2008 22:14

thanks all sorry for panic

I'm not well and just couldn't think straight - I just wanted to fall into bed

have sprayed it with vanish upholstery cleaner and turned it over - luckily we do have slats

now dh is making the bed again and I am very much looking forward to being in it

me too talilac

worst was massive vomiting (not baby unfortunately but small child who had just downed - and then upped - a large bowl of pasta. Changed whole (king size) bed, duvet, pillows, washed child, carpet, cat, windows... (ok, I exaggerate, but only slightly!), put her back in bed.

yup, you guessed, same all over again.

talilac · 19/05/2008 22:20

Oh harpo, thats brilliantly awful!

Capp - I wish you good sleeps..

BlueDragonfly · 19/05/2008 22:21

i would forget too but i didnt want to be the first to say that

DumbledoresGirl · 19/05/2008 22:21

Buy a mattress protector Cappucccino. I know, useless advice for now, but it will save you worrying about this in future.

Hassled · 19/05/2008 22:24

What I would do is lay several layers of towels over the wee, get into bed and go to sleep. I do admittedly have lax standards. The morning is the time to deal with bicarb, cleaning etc, not at 10 at night.
