Miele Peace of Mind

I originally posted this in Money Matters but might be better here.

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else has had issues with Miele honouring their extended warranties?
We bought a Miele fridge 6 years ago with their extended 8-year warranty — the certificate is even titled “Peace of Mind.” Unfortunately, the fridge has broken down and Miele have deemed it “beyond economic repair.” Instead of replacing it, they’ve told us it’s at their “sole discretion” whether they do so — and their “final decision” is to offer just 20% off a new appliance at full price!
We’re shocked. Surely the whole point of paying extra for an extended warranty — especially one called Peace of Mind — is to get a replacement if something goes badly wrong?
Has anyone else had a similar experience with Miele or managed to get a better outcome?

This doesn't sound right. Do you have the policy conditions that go with the guarantee?

Go to https://www.miele.co.uk/c/miele-extended-warranty-25.htm, scroll down to Terms and Conditions, and download the PDF (you might have to remove "%E2%80%8B" from the end of the link). On page 1 it says this:

Replacements
In some situations we will arrange to replace your product instead
of repairing it (for example where we cannot repair it or we decide
that it is uneconomical for us to repair your product). In these
circumstances, we will arrange to replace your product with one of a
same or similar make and technical specification.
If we cannot reasonably arrange a replacement, we will give you
vouchers instead. The vouchers will be for the full retail price (from
a retailer chosen by us) of a replacement product of the same or
similar make and technical specification. The vouchers will also pay
for the delivery.

Now, that's on a page called "Extended Warranty", and although the words "Peace of Mind" appear a couple of times, it doesn't say that it's the "Peace Of Mind Warranty®©™", so maybe there is some "A-ha! Gotcha!" loophole whereby you have a sneaky less-good warranty. But in all of the other Miele documents that I can find online (e.g., although it's from 2011, this
https://www.buyersandsellers.co.uk/images/PDF/Miele10YearClaimForm.pdf), it clearly says that "If it's beyond economic repair we will replace it".

(Note that the extended warranties is provided by an insurance company, not Miele itself, although I assume Miele has some input into how strict the insurance is because ultimately it's their reputation on the line.)
