Do I win the poor housekeeping prize?

DD2 requested a pretty cotton dress to wear today. I expressed the view that it was a bit creased and headed for the ironing board.

The withering response from DD2: "NO Mummy. Irons are for HAMA beads!"

She has reached the age of 2.75 without realising that the funny board thing with the hot thing attached is for clothes, not art and craft

Actually, make that

congratulate yourself. You are clearly an excellent role model. When she has a school uniform, then you may need to iron. Perhaps.

You're doing a good job there. We'd lived in this house for three weeks before I wondered where the ironing board was.

Can I compete with - recently finding Joseph's head from the Nativity set under the sideboard. The thing is that it was missing from the Christmas BEFORE last

On the contary my dear. That gives you the prize for best mummy! That's fantastic that she knows about Hama beads already! Can't stand the evil little things, myself!

Madlentileater - her sister has been at school for two years. Does that make me an even better role model

And the Nativity set is still out here as well - but it is from 2007, so tearinghairout wins the prize for unseasonal decor!

Yess!! And I thought I never won anything.

I've still got some Xmas card hanger things up. They were very useful for DS birthday cards (february), and a few masterpieces for Mothering Sunday and Easter.

dd is just 2 and very into who everything belongs to at the moment; "...and that's Daddy's iron, and Daddy's hoover..."

Smithagain · 19/05/2008 11:59

LOL BroccoliSpears!

I got the ironing board out in front of DS the other day and he said 'what's that?'
He is 5.

Good for you Smithagain!
I have 4 DCs and I iron NOTHING. When I overhear ironing conversations at work (and golly there are a lot of them) I just say "I don't do it. I suggest you don't do it. Nobody notices. Just fold things properly. Honestly, ironing is a waste of time"
My DD1 once had a toy iron donated by a friend. I pretended it was a boat.

Madlentileater · 19/05/2008 17:48

we still have the advent calendar slung over a chair in the kitchen...
strangely, when DS1 was little we got sent a free toy iron (from Mothercare I think) and he straight away picked it up and started ironing, v odd as if I had ever done any ironing in his lifetime it would have been when he was in bed, as I am a bit phobic about irons+small children. He is now 19 and does not iron, naturally.
