Washing Machine Recommendations

I had to replace my very unreliable LG washing machine last year, only lasted 3 years, constantly breaking but amazing at washing.

I was in a rush and just went down to the local appliance shop and bought the best they had which turned out to be a Beko, and it's crap. Small drum, doesn't clean anything properly. Everything comes out just slightly less stained than when it went in.

Hit me with your best, budget wise ideally below £800 but happy to go higher just want it to be reliable but most importantly good at cleaning.

My Bosch has done me well. 11 years old and never had any issues

Another vote for Bosch here. We’ve had two, and that’s only because we included the first one in our house sale.

Am generally a big fan of theirs after they replaced a part in our fridge with zero fuss because “it’s only six months out of warranty”, when most companies would have made us pay and said it was our fault for not paying to extend the warranty.

Had a bosch through16 hard working years (kids).
Engineer fixing it advised bottom-of-range Miele, which I've now had for 6 years. It's very good. Excellent wash, very economical. Quiet.
Things I don't like are the screen to operate but they are nearly all like that now. Also, it doesn't beep when it's finished (though my sister's Samsung chirps all the time which is also annoying).

I've been reading all morning and I think Miele is coming out trumps, I just want it to work well and wash well. Been reading some good things about AEG but don't want to risk it.

I’ve had my Samsung eco bubble for well over a decade with no issues.

FoxedByACat · 14/04/2025 12:27

Do look at length of program, some take over 3 hours now! I don’t have the time to be waiting that long.

JulesJules · 14/04/2025 12:30

I'd say Miele too. The Miele man (engineer who came out to fix my previous all-in-one washer dryer) advised a bottom of the range (with a big enough drum) separate washer. He said most people only use a few of the washing programmes and the more complicated ones have more to go wrong on them. Ours has been brilliant.

Freysimo · 14/04/2025 12:32

Eco programs are all over 3 hours, they are a lot cheaper to run though. Can't you do washing night before? I've had Mieles for the past 20 years, very reliable.

Topseyt123 · 14/04/2025 12:36

Bosch for me. I've had each of mine for about 15 years.

springissprung2025 · 14/04/2025 12:47

I took a gamble on a reasonably priced Haier ( not knowing the make) around two years ago. Early days but I'm very impressed.

MrsClatterbuck · 14/04/2025 12:48

My AEG will be 16 years old this year. My previous AEG lasted 10 years. Next one I think I will go Miele or Siemens or possible Bosch.

julesagain · 14/04/2025 12:51

EBAC, British made and with a seven year parts and labour guarantee

youlied · 14/04/2025 12:53

Bosch definitely

crossstitchingnana · 14/04/2025 12:58

I love my Samsung Ecobubble, it cleans really well. It's quiet too. Only thing is my model has an automatic dispenser, don't think I would bother with this feature again. It can link to an App so I know when my washing is finished, which is really handy as my machine is on the ground floor and lounge/kitchen first.

Ferro · 14/04/2025 13:32

I have a Beko and it's fine. I think a lot of the time it's just luck how long any particular machine lasts.

crackadawn · 14/04/2025 16:47

Thanks everyone, I heard about the Miele outlet off another thread so gave them a call and they are delivering me a new machine on Thursday. Not entry level but one up (just because of what they had available) so an 8kg 1400 spin for £629 with full warranty. Always wanted a Miele so quite hopeful this will do a good job for us

We’ve a bottom of the range Miele and love it. Before we had a Bosch, that was also great and lasted years. Can’t say I see any difference between the 2, maybe the Miele may last even longer? That’s what I hear.

Ferro · 17/04/2025 16:52

Just check it isn't one of the mental new ones that don't work if the internet's down.

WhiteButterflies · 18/04/2025 19:43

How is your new washing machine? I need a new one and have been tempted to order from the Miele outlet.
