So I made poached eggs this morning. I have no idea how I managed it as I’ve never done it before, but I left the pan on the lowest heat setting for… 5 hours 🫣

thank GOD the house didn’t burn down (I was out…) but the pan is now very black inside (burnt egg remnants too).

is it salvageable? Its stainless steel, my largest pan from a set and I am as poor as fuck right now…

Biological washing powder, water and leave to soak.

try simmering biological washing powder and water in it then leave to soak.

Typical I only use non bio 🫠

isn’t washing powder kinda poisonous to consume?

If ^ doesn’t work, then make a paste with bicarbonate of soda and leave on the burnt areas overnight, then use a scouring pad (whatever type suits the pan). Repeat until it’s clean.

Don't panic, we have all done something like this sometimes. Half fill the pan with water, squirt of washing up liquid(or washing powder if you unusually use a dish washers). Bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Allow to cool. Scrub with a stiff brush. If still discoloured use a brillo pad to get the rest of the muck off. Brasso can be used to restore the shine if needed but do wash very well before using for food again. Good luck

Thanks all! I saw something about vinegar as well so I did half water half vinegar, boiled for 10 minutes, let it cool and used wire wool, came straight off! Currently soaking in fairy liquid as it smelt a bit yuck. Reminded me of the farrier burning the horses hooves!

Cola in a pan, boil up and use a wooden spoon to loosen debris, and I bet it’s your favourite pan OP, this has happened to me in the past, always your best pan!
