Another How Much Do You Pay Your Cleaners Thread

Our cleaners notified us that prices were increasing. Fine - as expected. But they want to double our existing rate from £70 per clean to £140 per clean. I'm shocked. They do a great job but I'm not sure I can justify it - we don't live in a Bridgerton mansion. How much are your cleaners raising their prices by and is anyone else close to being charged £150??

How long and how many people are cleaning?

I pay £15 per person hour here, which I am aware is very inexpensive.

Iknowaboutpopular · 14/03/2025 06:47

My cleaner does 2 hours twice a week and we pay her £15 an hour. I provide the cleaning products and cloths etc.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 14/03/2025 06:59

We’re at £22 an hour now, but it’s a very pricey area near London (averages between £20-25) - I think it depends on where you are/how many people there are cleaning/hours worked.

WTAFAmerica · 14/03/2025 07:57

£17.50ph she's been with us 10 years and it goes up a bit most years now. Best money i spend all week.

But I wouldn't pay her double!

Oh areas is London.

£17 an hour per cleaner
we have 5 hours a week with 3 cleaners
very close to London

burnoutbabe · 14/03/2025 08:47

£17 for se London. 1 lady for 2 hours every fortnight. She just does lounge kitchen and bathroom. Doesn’t do bedroom (as I am in it!)

haufbiskiy · 14/03/2025 08:55

My cleaner is putting her rates up from £14 to £16 ph from 1st April. To be honest it’s toppy now at that price. It means I have to earn about £25 an hour to pay her and we have five hours a week so on a monthly basis it’s getting to the point where it’s cost prohibitive. It means I have to earn £7000 a year extra to pay her. That’s too much. East Mids

We have two cleaners for two hours, so the charge is for four hours. We've been paying £17.50 an hour which was worth it, as they do such a good job, and seems roughly in line with what others are paying. They're now going to be charging £35 an hour though, which feels excessive. We're not anywhere near London btw!

I pay £18 per hour. But I know she doesn’t do the full two hours. So it grates a bit. But she’s reliable and trustworthy.

JaninaDuszejko · 14/03/2025 09:28

That seems a lot. We pay £15 an hour which I think is very good value when you consider minimum wage is about to go up to £12.21.

There is a cleaning company near me that charges this amount. Probably the best cleaner I've ever had but I can't afford that. They say that because I want kitchen units wiping/windows/ skirting boards this constitutes 'deep cleaning' so costs more.

I have a cleaner who is £15 per hour and is not that good. However, she does the basics. I now do about an hour after she's gone doing the things she doesn't do (eg dusting cupboards and doors) It's a good compromise.

Yeah this is for regular cleaning, so no windows or skirting boards etc. Just regular fortnightly cleaning.

I pay £19 per hour in London. Never heard of a cleaner charging £35!

But you have 2 people. So that's double the cleaning op.
So 17.50 each. Sounds reasonable.

No we have two people cleaning for a total of two hours, which is four hours in total. £140 divided by 4 hours is £35 per hour. I wouldn't have a problem if it was £17.50, which is what I'm currently paying.

£17.50 PH is ridiculous for a cleaner imo let alone £35

DinoLil · 15/03/2025 20:35

£15 ph in the SE using my stuff.

bugalugs45 · 15/03/2025 20:41

I pay £13.50 an hour, she’s not particularly thorough but is reliable , If she raises those prices I’d look elsewhere , I’d pay £15 if she was great

Letmehaveabloodyusernameplease · 15/03/2025 20:44

I'm a cleaner and I'm paid £15 an hour.

SunshineRose12 · 15/03/2025 20:48

I’m currently paying £16.50 ph, just been informed it’s going up to £20 ph. Thinking of finding someone else as compared to what friends in the area are paying, £16.50 was already pricy, so £20 ph is very high. Based in Cambridgeshire.

bigmix · 15/03/2025 21:55

£16.50 an hour. In Yorkshire
