Hey. I need a new vaccum cleaner and am looking for a mid range price / cordless one.

I was going to go with the 'Dyson V8', but also looking at the 'SHARK Anti Hair Wrap IZ202UK Cordless Vacuum Cleaner'.

Are Dyson all they are cracked up to be nowadays?

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations?

Thanks,

I have a Dyson V8 and it works for what I need it to do.
I would advise you to go to a bricks and mortar store as I was interested in the Shark but when I tested it out in "real life" I didn't like the size/weight/handle grip/manoeuvrability.

Both me and my daughter have the Shark IZ202.

I have the Pet version as I use the motorised tool for the stairs but my daughter has the model you mention as she lives in an apartment.

I can highly recommend! Great suction, not too heavy but very well made and sturdy. Folds in half for easy carry and storing. 5 year guarantee. Battery life good. Price is terrific too! 👍

I have just returned this cordless Shark Anti Hairwrap under the 5 year guarantee. I bought it 3 years ago and tried to like it, but in the end it broke me. Virtually from the beginning it dropped bits as soon as it was switched off, and despite me following all the instructions for emptying the drum, cleaning the roller and the filters it just got worse and worse. Not only that, as time went on it more often than not pushed bits round the floor rather than pick them up. I didn’t particularly like any of the attachments as the collecting drum got in the way and in the end I resorted to using a dustpan and brush to clean the stairs.
The fact that it was heavy (and it is in comparison to others) didn’t bother me at all because when I first bought it I knew no different. It replaced a Miele cylinder cleaner I’d had for 12+ years and I loved the fact that I could just get it out without the hassle of plugging in it, that it had a light for dark corners, and that the battery was easy to charge up. As I said above I wasn’t too keen on the attachments and the fact that it seemed to need a lot maintenance. In particular the roller that catches the hair was a bit fiddly to get off and on and clean.
I should have twigged early on that it was faulty and it was only when my return under warranty had been accepted that I worked out that the problem probably lay with the design of the shaped brush head connection to the main stem which didn’t allow all the debris to be sucked into the cup. Overtime this had resulted in a build up in the connection meaning less and less was reaching the drum and more and more bits were being dropped when the vacuum was turned off. The amount of debris I removed by using a skewer before it was sent back had to be seen to be believed.
Full credit to John Lewis who accepted my return without question and allowed me to choose a replacement. I went for a Samsung Jet 60 Turbo which was cheaper in price than the Shark and I can’t tell you how much more efficient and lighter it is, plus they refunded me the price difference. The only thing I don’t like quite as much is that the battery is slightly more complicated to charge up, but that’s a small price to pay for a vacuum cleaner that actually does what it’s meant to and is light and easy to use.

Avoid dyson cordless like the plague. They run on medium or high power.

After a while you need high power just to make it function effectively and to begin woth it runs for like 10/15 mins on high. Now I'm lucky if I get 2 mins out of it and half the time it it cuts out.

Whenever I call the helpline, they advise washing the filter, which I do, then it works again. For one 2 minute use.

It's s ridiculous that I literally need to wash the filter before each use to run it for 2 minutes before it needs recharging. And I'm we the engine replaced in the dyson upright that we had before.

We're a 3 bed house with no pets.
