Getting rid of the smell of sick ?

Does anyone have any ideas please ? DD vomited profusely in her bedroom last night. I have scrubbed the carpet and other surfaces with disinfectant and had the windows wide open all morning but it still really smells.

TIA

Oh dear, poor thing!

I tend to use 1001 spray to clean it, then sprinkle with lots of bicarb which you hoover up when it dries out.

Shake n vac? It smells horrible but is better than vomit.

I swear by bicarbonate of soda for virtually everything smelly. Sprinkle onto the carpet, brush it in a bit, leave for an hour and then vacuum. Imagine you will have to do it a few times to get rid of the smell altogether but it's a good chemical-free way to tackle the worst of it. Hope dd is feeling better?

Thanks all. Will go buy bicarbonate of soda. Will it be by the salt etc in the supermarket or do you think the local chemist will have it ? [clueless undomesticated emoticon]

DD still has a temperature and is a bit whingey but no more vomiting at the moment (touch wood)

Should be displayed in a smaller quantity near the baking supplies section and/or in a more industrial size near the cleaning products.

biological washing powder. Mix up in a spray bottle with water, spray then scrub and do again later. this was recommended to me by a professional carpet cleaner. It does work! HTH

Another vote for bicarb here. Try and scrape up any solids and phlegm first, and blot the liquids as best you can. Then I put a good shake of bicarb in a small amount of warm water, scrub it into the carpet, then blot and leave it to dry.

don't suppose it's so eco-friendly as bicarb but I've used Zoflora disinfectant to get rid of really bad smells, seems to work pretty well.
