We bought one of these - a Triflex HX1 - in November 2020. In April 2023, six months out of guarantee, the suction and brush head failed. Miele repaired the appliance at half price, I think a nod to its newness.. In October 2023 one of the batteries would not take a charge. Miele said they could provide a new battery for 169 gbp. We managed with one. In November 2024 the suction failed again. The appliance was now four years old. We contacted Miele customer services who were less than helpful - dismissive and in denial that their appliance could be faulty. They suggested that the problem was poor maintenance and this had been identified in July 2023 when the first suction failure repair was carried out: the service report we received made no mention of this. It seemed like buck-passing. I have seen similar comments on Mumsnet about this appliance and the poor standard of customer service from Miele.

The consumer legislation states white goods should last 6 years, I think this may apply to other domestic appliances.

I am yet another consumer who has been let down by Miele. My 1st Miele fridge/ freezer 'died' after 23 months and its replacement stopped working after 7 yrs. My Miele dishwasher broke after 5 yrs. Maybe I have just been unlucky but none of my Miele products were 'built to last' (as per Miele's slogan).

I fell into the marketing trap of believing that if you pay more you get more but that has sadly not been the case with Miele. I paid a premium for Miele's fridge/ freezer and dishwasher and got a (less than) mediocre return on my investment. In the end, when I add up the repair fees and the total number of years I got out of my Miele appliances, I would have been better off going with one of Miele's cheaper competitors - Beko, Haier or Samsung. In fact, I now see that Bosch, LG and Samsung offer 5 and 20 year warranties - a far cry from Miele's 2 years!

If Miele is so confident about the durability of their products, why aren't they offering their consumers lifetime warranties, as their 'obsessed with quality that lasts' campaign suggests? You may not believe it but the concept of lifetime warranties does exist, for example, Briggs & Riley (luxury luggage) and Patagonia stand behind their respective products and offer their customers unconditional lifetime warranties. The fact that Miele only guarantee their appliances for 2 years makes me question how genuine Miele are when they say that they are committed to reducing their environmental footprint and making their appliances last longer.

If you are considering purchasing a Miele I would urge you to read the NEGATIVE reviews posted on TrustPilot, Google, Facebook etc before making your final decision. I would also recommend doing your research and seeing what other brands/ competitors are offering, not just in terms of price but also in terms of warranties.
