Where are you keeping your recycling?

We've got 3 plastic bags (one for plastic one for cardboard and one for paper) and 1 red box for glass and cans.

Can't keep it in the house because we don't really have the space/ worried about dc's cutting themselves on the cans/ pulling it out of the bags etc (we have had it all in the house for 2 days and it also looks such a mess (we put it in the corner of the dining room)
Can't keep it outside because it will get soaked and be too heavy to move to the front for collection
We've put it all in the kids playhouse at the moment but now the dc's can't play in there because of the same reason we can't keep it all in the house.

So what is everyone else doing?

I don't mind seperating/ washing them its just the fact the council expect me to pay out for somewhere to keep it when I'm broke. Seriously considering going in to complain but seems OTT.

Ours is in the kitchen as it would not make sense IMO to put them in one bin outside to then transfer to another bin outside.

So far plastic (bottles, tubs) then cardboard, then tins, then paper.

Our (London) council provide free lidded boxes for paper/card, glass/plastic, food waste and special bags for garden waste (plus the wheelie bin)

Petition your local council/Councillor!!!!

Doesn't make sense to me either T&P but we don't have the space indoors.

I don't understand, do you not have seperate wheelie bins?

LoveMyGirls · 05/05/2008 20:32

We've got black and green ones but green is for garden rubbish only, we've got 3 plastic bags for recycling (2 small ones which are re-usable and 1 orange bin bag) 1 red box without a lid.

Looks like I'm goign to have to pay out aren't I really, the chances of me making a difference to the council before the next millenium are slim so wilkinsons it will have to be or refuse to let dc's play in their playhouse because it is now the recycling's new home

That is crap, we have a green bin for garden waste, blue for bottles and cans and a black non recycle

i dont get a recylcing collection at all ( live in a flat)
so i have a cardbpard box in my kitchen which i keep on the freezer to pput recycling in then at least once a week i put it all into my shopping bags and walk it up to the recycling banks, get the children involved in sorting it into the right bins they love it.
not ideal and doesnt look v.pretty in my kitchen but i do beleive recycling is important and is only way i can do it.
it is a pain that you have to pay out yourself but i would go and get the cheap wilko boxes with lids to sort it all into
