Dishwasher sheets eg Dip

I keep getting Instagram ads telling me that dishwasher pods are leaving an unrinsed carcinogenic layer over my plates. I get it from an eco pov, but does anyone know if this is actually true?

Sorry, meant to add, does anyone think its worth switching to Dip sheets or others from a health pov as well as the eco one? And do they work?

Should you believe an unsubstantiated advert on social media?

Do they provide a link to peer reviewed scientific research which demonstrates the validity of their claim?

Bilingualspingual · 05/01/2025 11:47

No I shouldn’t. That’s why I’m asking. I know the answer is ‘just Google it’ but I’m no scientist. I’ll try to do some digging tho.

You could use powder if you were worried

ObliviousCoalmine · 05/01/2025 11:55

Oh god everything is leaving a carcinogenic layer on everything. I don't have the capacity to absorb any more of this unsubstantiated nonsense. I saw a video yesterday of a woman using a tuning fork to "reset the energy" of a topside of beef.

I’m with you on that. There’s a type of reusable towel that keeps popping up as well that claims you can’t get rid of acne while using ordinary towels that ‘tear’ the skin. Not explaining how all the millions without acne are escaping this.

I used dip for a bit. They seemed fine but they send absolutely relentless emails. I think I'd get 4 each month to let me know that they'd dispatched etc. Plus they signed me up to a newsletter. Ugh. I just use powder now. No one tries to send me a newsletter about that!

I’m so over the modern world and its constant communication (she says writing on mumsnet). Considering buying a yak for the back garden and using its milk to wash my dishes in or something.
