Getting rid off sofa

I have two sofas to get rid off. One I can donate to charity, have already checked and they'll collect.

The second, is a lot older, I don't think it has a fire label and I'm not sure what to do. Freecycle, Gumtree or pay for a company to take it away?

How did you get rid off your old sofa?

Chopped it up inside the house because it was too big to get out otherwise, and then took it to the dump!
You could try to freecycle it, or get the council to collect . Personally, I put everything on our street WhatsApp, and most things go pretty quickly. But it is quite a long street!

I did the same as @DelphiniumBlue
Deconstructed it indoors (lump hammer, saw and heavy duty scissors) then put the pieces in the car and took them down the dump...

Thanks. Chopping it up is not an option nor is taking it to the dump but I could put it on the local Facebook page. I don't belong to the WhatsApp group which is a shame as that's a great suggestion.

Bulk collection is another great idea but I wouldn't be able to get it outside.

Local Freebay site or similar on Facebook.

The council will usually pick it up for a fee. We paid £30 for it to be collected.

That's what we did

They won't carry it out of the house. They'll take it if I can get it on the pavement. Unfortunately it means carrying it down a flight of stairs.

I was in the same situation, couldn't use the council collection as I live alone and couldn't get the sofa out of the house. I found a couple of companies who do tip runs via a local Facebook page. Both were SEPA registered for waste disposal and had good reviews. The cheapest was only £30 more than the cost of a council uplift, and it was £30 well spent.
