Heat pump tumble dryer

About a year ago my old vented dryer broke and I bought a heat pump dry, sold on the energy efficiency. We are a busy household of 5 teens and 2 adults plus pets.
We have an 8kg candy model.

I can't tell you how bloody long it takes to dry the clothes.

Half a load rakes about 2.5-3 hours. A full load takes 5 hours to be properly dry.

Does anyone else have this issue? I know they are meant to be slower than vented and condenser dryers, but it's driving me mad. I can't get through the laundry quickly enough and it's constantly piling up.

Are there any hints people have?
Are condensers better? We have remodeled the kitchen and now couldn't have a vented one, but I need to do something...

We had a Candy one probably similar to yours. I liked the design of it but it took so long to dry clothes that it was the bane of my life.. We sold it for £50 and I bought an AEG. Takes 2 hours for a full load and everything is dry. Best thing ever.

We had a Siemens heat pump that was similar. It took so long to dry a cycle, I had a repair person come out and he basically said, it's working fine, it's just a crap piece of equipment. Actually, what he really said was, this is not a good machine for people who expect it to dry things all the way.

It drove me absolutely mad, so have just recently replaced it with this, which is expensive but brilliant - dries so much faster. Like a PP, we've had it plumbed in with the washing machine waste, so don't have to empty the water reservoir.

Is that a convection or heat pump AEG?

It's a heat pump series 9000 AEG. My husband bought cheap when we bought the heat pump Candy and it's so true when you buy cheap you buy twice! I checked Which and it came out on top of their reviews so bought it when it was on a deal.

I have a Candy heat pump dryer it’s rubbish takes hours to dry, I thought there was something wrong with it when I first got it. I recommend the heated airers I got mine from Lakeland and bought a cover with it too as that makes all the difference. When I first got it I tried just draping a sheet or duvet cover over it instead but the cover is a game changer. I don’t leave mine on overnight any more as it’s really old now but I used to. Regarding the dryer I tumble dried my husbands down parka and it took 11 hours!!
