Vacuum Cleaners?

Hello,

We bought a shark vacuum cleaner two years ago and today I've had enough. It's constantly leaving bits on the carpet, the hand held part doesn't detach from the hose so if you accidentally hoover up a tiny playmobil it's a nightmare to get out, it's heavy, constantly falling over ughhh I've had ENOUGH. Several friends raved about their sharks but I cant seem to get on with it! Please recommend another brand if possible we had Dysons prior to the shark. 🙏

I could have written this post.
I thought a cordless vacuum would make things easier, was taken in by all the adverts for a Shark and Mrs Hinch (I think) and almost right from the start I hated the dam thing.I agree with everything the OP has said.
The Shark turned out to be a very high maintenance cleaner because unless it was emptied moreorless evertime it was used and the brush head kept clean it didn’t pick up all the bits and it dropped what it did after it was turned off
A fortnight ago I bit the bullet and bought what I had before the Shark, a Miele cylinder cleaner that had money off in John Lewis. It has a huge cord and the attachments are far better than those that came with the Shark. Yes I need to buy dust bags for it but rather the expense of that than wasting time using a cleaner that didn’t do the job.
When I bought the Shark I gave my old Miele cylinder which was then 11 years old to my brother and it’s still working perfectly now.

Sebo mine has been alive for 16 years and it's the best. I bought a shark too when they were all the rage and it's stuck at the back of a cupboard and never sees the light of day.
Visit JOhn Lewis if you can and try some different ones.

I'm another Miele fan! I have several (bought and inherited) so have one upstairs and one downstairs (plus a spare which my daughter has her eye on as she too hates her shark)! I've swapped one of the standard heads for a 'parquet floor' head as it's a fabulous bristle brush perfect for laminate and tiles. My oldest one is 15, one was used in a restaurant for a number of years (so took quite a battering but still looks almost new) and the other was barely used when I inherited it - all going strong, excellent suction and I prefer changing the bags to emptying a cylinder which never empties properly.

I could have written this post. Sucked in by the Shark hype a couple of years ago and it's absolutely dreadful.
DH went out and bought me a Vax Pet vacuum today and although it feels clunky compared to the Shark, the amount of dirt it picked up less than an hour after I'd hoovered with the Shark is quite disgusting.

Our Miele Cat & Dog is awesome - robust, powerful, easy to get bags and parts for (it's needed one new roller brush bar because of all the hairy things in the house, and we had to replace the small flat upholstery head because of DH being heavy handed). We've had vacuum cleaners from hoover, vax, and a cordless Morphy Richards - this is by far the best.

We are a Miele house too. Cylinder models. DD has one, we have two. We’ve tried a GTech - it was awful. Pushed dust around. Just no suction. Miele last and do the job.

Well I'm going to buck the trend here: I love my Shark and hate my parents' Miele. I can't bear a tug-along vac. Vastly prefer a push-along. Bagless also has virtually no smell.

My Shark is a liftaway model. Never have any problem retrieving anything that gets sucked up, like earrings or lego. It is straightforward to dismantle and rebuild. As long as I wash the filters regularly and empty it before it is rammed, it picks everything up with no issues. Unlike any other full size vac I've had, it is light and easy to transport up and down the stairs.

I had a Dyson before, which was noisy, indestructible, weighed a tonne - and excellent. I'd happily have another, if it was as light as the Shark.

I wouldn't have cordless for the main vac. Maybe in a few years the technology will have developed, but last time I looked none of them really matched corded for power and cleaning ability.
