Eco laundry eggs

I have one and it has new balls, as it were, but I find the laundry doesn't smell as clean as I feel it should.

Should I persist?

Anyone a big fan? I do like the idea but maybe towels are not their forte.

Someone must have an eco egg? I need some encouragement to persist, thanks.

I have one!

I agree, the smell isn't as strong, I use an Ecover fabric conditioner as well, which helps but I remind myself that, that strong "clean" smell you usually get is just awful chemicals that wreck havoc with your body so I guess it's a case of picking your poison

I've got one and was surprised at how nice clothes smell after using it, so worth persisting!

Thank you! My family are very skeptical!

I know it depends on volume of laundry but how often do you change the balls?!

I do a wash everyday pretty much and I change it once a month-ish. I know it says every 50 washes on the packaging but I personally prefer doing it every 30 or so

We've been using it since 2 years.Very low/no fragrance but washes well. I believe there is 1 version with fragrance now which can confirm that the clothes are indeed washed Grin

I ditched mine after my washing machine started to smell and develop mould.

If you persist you need to ensure that you carry out a monthly service clean on your washing machine to kill the mould and make sure it doesn't smell.

I have one, I use it on our clothes on a cool wash, but linens and towels (and the cloth nappies) are done with laundry wash sheets (eco water saver or something, sorry I have no idea) on a hot wash

I do a monthly machine service wash

Love my eco egg, I change the pellety things on the first of the month because life is busy and it's all I can cope with tbh

I've used an Ecoegg for ten years (just checked as I thought it was a long time) - I've never had mould, and for me the whole point is that your washing doesn't smell.
I do use the Dettol laundry additive as I wash at 20, but that isn't fragranced either.

Check the egg every now and again and when it's got space in it for a bag's worth of top-up balls that's when it needs it. The black (tourmaline) balls aren't the same as they used to be, they break more easily now.

I tried one a couple of years ago and wasn't impressed at all. I really wanted it to work from an economical and environmental point of view but my clothes just didn't smell fresh. After a couple of washes the cotton fresh fragrance wore off and my clothes started to smell a bit musty - it wasn't that they didn't smell of any fragrance, they actually had a noticeable, weird, slightly musty odour. They looked clean enough (but my clothes aren't dirty/stained to begin with). I ended up throwing it away and going back to using powder.
