Help using condenser dryer.

I've just moved house and been left a condenser dryer. I've always used a vented one in the past.
I put in about 12 pairs of men's and women's pants, 2 nighties and a pair of joggers. I put it on low heat for 60 mins. Still very damp. Put it on a further 50 mins and still a bit damp. Is this normal?
My vented one would take 50 mins on half heat.

It can depend. Mine is amazing. First thing to check is does it have a drawer full of water that needs emptying, some just drain straight into the waste water pipe. The drawer is normally at the top like the drawer on a washing machine. Then check if the condenser is blocked with lint. This is normally at the bottom and you open it, pull out the whole condenser unit and run it under the tap to get rid of all the fluff. Should work much better after that. If neither of those things improve it you just have a crap model. Mines a Beko and it's fab!

Sounds like it might have been left behind because it’s a crap one! I have a condenser and it dries most stuff in about 30-40 mins.

Definitely check the water tank and filter. If they're both clear it's maybe just a bit crao.
I dried double duvet cover, sheet, pillow cases. 3 towels and some underwear in mine today in 45 mins

maybe the bottom filter needs a good clean, or the water tank is full?

lingmerth · 25/11/2024 22:48

Thanks for the suggestions. I emptied the water tank. Had a fair bit of water in it. Checked the filter at the front of the drum. Didn't know there was anywhere else to clean. I'll look tomorrow.
I've actually bought my vented dryer from my old house. Will revert to that if no joy although I don't know how to vent it on a garage.

I have a new AEG one and the cycles take about 2 hours. It's supposedly much more economical to run, highly rated. Have to empty it every other time.

@lingmerth for my condenser the filter at the bottom of the machine needs removing and rinsing out thoroughly in the shower once every few weeks. Not sure if you did this or on your model but would be worth trying if you've not.
