smelly petrol trousers - help

spilt petrol on my trousers on Sunday and have washed them 4 times so far, on the washiest wash setting I have! Will the smell ever go, or will I just chuck them out? The petrol splash was just a bit from the nozzle at the garage - why is it taking so long to wash out????

Dry cleaning will get the smell out.
