DS just vomited all over the carpeted floor - help

DS is 3, had a coughing fit and then vomited all over my bedroom carpeted floor.

Help me - what's the best way to clean this?
It's past midnight so I can't really nip to the store until the morning.

So far I've cleaned up the bits, used Dr Beckmann carpet stain remover (finished what was left in the bottle and have no more) and put down salt (in the hope it'll absorb some of the smell/sick).

I'm pretty shit at this - probably screwed it up already.
How do I clean this and make sure it doesn't stink to high heaven for the next 5 years.

Or do I just need to burn the carpet now?

Sounds fine. Scrub w fairy liquid. Take off excess moisture then put bicarbonate of soda on it too. Will lift stains and smells.

I second what the other poster says. Blot as much moisture out as you can. Sprinkle some bicarbonate of soda and leave until morning and hoover. If you have no bicarbonate now just blot the moisture now and do the bicarbonate tomorrow

Vomit is acidic. Get bicarb on it and plenty of water. Wait for it to dry, then in the morning treat it like you would a spilled bowl of chunky vegetable soup. It's basically organic matter, so it will break down pretty easily over a day or two. Just don't cause mechanical damage by scrubbing too hard.

I don't have any bicarb - sadly only a sorry looking tub of baking soda.

I can blot though!

Plan was so vacuum tomorrow - especially for the salt I put down. Will bicarb still help in the morning if I get to the store early?

This has definitely made me consider hard wood floors and rugs moving forward!

Scrape solids up with a spatula or spoon, (flush down toilet) blot as much of the liquid out with paper towel. Blot again with dishwashing detergent but only dampen the sponge (or cloth) when doing so. Blot liquid out with paper towel as you go. Once touch-dry, you can absolutely cover with bicarb fo help deodorize but don’t rub it in. Vacuum in the morning.

Baking soda is bicarb. It's the same thing. 😉

Even "baking powder" (baking soda mixed with other stuff) is sufficiently alkaline to make a difference.

Ooohhhh! (See what a novice I am)!

Im going to scurry back to the damn cupboard to throw baking something or other powder on the vomit stain.

It can't make it worse right??

When you have pets or kids Bicarb is a must. It'll absorb the wet and deodorise.

For now scrape up any bits and blot the wet but anything powder will absorb the excess wet.

It was baking powder!

I have now covered it all in said baking powder.

Will this be enough for the night, ready to be vacuumed in the morning?

Poorly DS is now sleeping next to me snoring away.
