I know there's so many different models of each but generally which do you rate? I have 3 kids and a dog so need something robust and hardworking.

Miele cat and dog for me.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/10/2024 15:53

Miele every time.

Ihaveoflate · 09/10/2024 15:53

Miele out of those options, but I have a Sebo Felix and I'm a bit in love with it.

Midlifecareerchange · 09/10/2024 15:54

Miele

Whoopsmahoot · 09/10/2024 16:00

Def Miele

muddyford · 09/10/2024 16:35

Miele. On my third. The Cat and Dog is superlative at sucking up hair.

Crispleavesfalling · 09/10/2024 16:36

Definitely a Miele.

GeorgeTheFirst · 09/10/2024 16:37

Miele. My son bought a shark because he had long hair and he regrets it

Lizbiz89 · 09/10/2024 17:47

Ok thanks, guess Miele is the way to go. Does anyone have the bagless ones? Are they good? I'd rather not have to deal with buying and replacing bags all of the time.

I have the bagless one and it is great. Easy to empty and easy to clean all the parts every now and then. I ended up getting the smaller one, I think it is called boost and it's fine and still plenty big enough to not have to empty all the time.

BillieJ · 09/10/2024 20:00

Going against the crowd, I had Mieles for years, but now have a Shark. Much prefer it especially because of the lift off option.

Shark every time.
Endless issues with the Miele cat and dog

Whataretalkingabout · 10/10/2024 09:30

I have a bagless Miele ( small white round compact) and am not pleased with it. I had a Dyson for 15 years and it was much more powerful and easier to use. The Miele has 2 problems: stuff gets caught in the wheels of the brush foot and is difficult to get out. And the fine particle filter gets filled up so quickly that if you don't clean it every time it loses power .

Lizbiz89 · 10/10/2024 09:38

@Whataretalkingabout that's so funny because I have just been reading the exact same reviews on the John Lewis website. So difficult to know what to buy because whatever I buy I want it to last.

Miele!! And I can answer your question. I have both the bagged and non bagged. Don't ask! Both cope equally brilliantly with the golden glitter from my golden retriever. The bagless is a little heavier but more convenient than the bagged. My bagged one is 15 years old and just as good as when it was new. Get the turbo brush attachment if offered.

Lizbiz89 · 10/10/2024 09:54

Thanks @BigBundleOfFluff . For dogs and kids which one would you most recommend? Currently have the Dyson animal.

This bad boy!

Shark or Miele vacuum?
Whataretalkingabout · 10/10/2024 22:39

If I were to buy one again I would get a Miele with bags. Much better suction with bags and more silent ( less noisy)! Be sure it doesn't have the same foot as the compact one. Or maybe another Dyson? If only we could try them before buying....

crazycatladie · 11/10/2024 17:24

Miele cat and dog, shark hoovers are so heavy

Yirk · 11/10/2024 17:28

Another vote for the Miele cat and dog, had mine years its still brilliant.

Anisty · 11/10/2024 17:37

Sebo. I have a Miele washing machine but Sebo is the brand for the vac! I have their pet one and it is fantastic.

Many hotels use Sebo. After an awful Dyson experience, i noticed hotels use Sebo. Got one about 5 years ago and it is amazing. 2 dogs and 2 cats here.

Dyson animal is horrendous. Worst vac i have ever owned, hands down. I have indoor guinea pigs as well as dogs and cats.

Slightest bit of hay and it blocked. OMG the amount of times i had the thing in bits extracting hay.

Sebo all the way for me. It deals with the lot. Got mine online at Manchester Vacs (i am in Scotland) Very happy.

Yup. It's easy.

And so far, has lasted years compared to DP's previous record with cheaper ones, including a Henry - it's saved hundreds in the process.

Pancakeflipper · 11/10/2024 17:46

Miele.

Or Sebo (mine is now 20yrs old)

CookieMonster28 · 11/10/2024 18:04

Having the same debate myself. Have a shark that's packed up after 4yrs have never been that impressed with it to be honest. My mum has a Miele and it's lasted years and she's very hot on cleaning and absolutely swears by it...I'm borrowing it for the weekend so happy to feedback!
