Pretty iron-on patches for a little girl's jeans....

Can anyone recommend somewhere I can get some pretty, girly, iron-on patches for my little girl's jeans?

She is going through a phase of putting the knees out of her trousers within about a week of me purchasing them. I therefore need to start mending them or getting a second morgage.

I've googled "iron on patches" but keep getting zillions of on-line stores that sell patches shaped like cannabis leaves and whilst that would no doubt cause shock and consternation amongst the predatory mums at the school gate and thus amuse me greatly I don't think I could inflict it on DD.

Any suggestions for me? Many thanks in advance.

Where are you? John Lewis have nice patches, although I think they're mostly sew-on rather than iron-on. It's also a good idea to put a denim patch in the inside of the knee to back up the patch on the outside.

Am in Luxembourg so no John Lewis for me .

I was hoping for iron patches as I am useless at sewing. Are iron-ons not really worth it but more decorative then?

Any of these useful?

Dunelm Mill have a ood range, if you're near one. Otherwise sewing or button shops.

I found some lovely ones in an independent haberdashery - they must exist in Luxembourg?

I put a plain denim one on the inside too (both iron on), as Bluestocking suggests, and it holds really well.

hello kitty ones in h&m

There is a lady who makes them on etsy, but I can't remember her shop name. If you do a search on etsy for iron-on patches I'm sure you'll find her.

Bluestocking · 22/04/2008 21:14

Wow, Fruittea, thanks for the Dunelm Mill tip - what a cornucopia of loveliness!

Ooh! Thank you all for your suggestions. Will have a goo at the websites and see what I can find.

Many thanks.

or you could get pretty fabric and that no-sew stuff

I will say, I don't think the no-iron stuff is very durable. Can you really not sew? Its very very easy...

I can sew after a fashion but have a deep seated aversion to it and was hoping that iron-on would solve let me get away with it. Will see what I can do. At the moment DD (4.10) is insisting on keeping the holes in her trousers and tells me she will be very cross if I close them .
