Oh for gods SAKE: dp has slopped yellow chinese curry down the front of our white RENTED kitchen cuboards and it has stained! Will it come off? Should I wreak similar vengeance on his white laptop?

Title says it all: will it come off? how do I get it off? They are plastic coated wooden doors. I have no bleach/bicarb (but could go and get some) I have: washing up liquid, dettol, washing powder, lemon juice, salt, erm... toothpaste?

Clutching at straws, help!

Please also advise how to knock some sense into my lazy, slovenly dp who has no respect for the house or our belongings!

if all else fails - very very VERY VERY gently sandpaper it off.

Hassled · 22/04/2008 14:51

Flash Kitchen Spray with Bleach gets rid of everything.

WankmasterBastardDeLaShithead · 22/04/2008 14:52

A scrub with neat bleach would be my first stop. (And when he's finished screaming you could try it on the cupboards ).

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 22/04/2008 14:52

turmeric i take it?

did this to work surfaces when first renting with dh- only sand paper would shift it

MrsMattie · 22/04/2008 14:53

I was going to say Flash kitchen with bleach. Leave it on for a little while before wiping off. Have multiple attempts at it if necessary.

bananaknickers · 22/04/2008 14:54

Those earaser things are brill. I got groung in felt tip of our dinning table at the weekend
Get them in the cleaning bit of the supermarket or Wilkinsons

redadmiral · 22/04/2008 14:54

My experience is that turmeric fades on it's own. I often get it on the wooden worksurfaces and it just goes after a few days or so.

redadmiral · 22/04/2008 14:54

its own...

HannahandSeb · 22/04/2008 14:55

dettol (I think) mould and mildew remover, it has active bleach in it and gets everything off and stinks like a swimming pool too!

lol wmbdlsh (what a name!) don't tempt me.

Will try flash spray with bleach/sandpaper, thanks ladies.

Wonder if that will work on all his bloody tea stains on my lovely primrose painted walls from where he (surely must) flings the teabag from across the room into the bin...

I lived in rented accomm as a student and dh -then bf- turned the cooker on without lifting the lid up (he didn't realise it was a lid ). As it was a gas hob it made a huge mess and the only thing to shift it was bicarb of soda paste.
Good luck!

nervousal · 22/04/2008 14:58

second bananaknickers - the eraser things are magic and have gotten curry stains of my worktop no problems at all - just one wipe. I got mine at homebase - will google

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 22/04/2008 14:59

It may sound mad but see if the plastic coating peels off. I got very annoyed that our new kitchen doors stained until I realised they were still covered in the shrink wrap packaging.

pigleto · 22/04/2008 15:01

the only thing that works on turmeric stains is UV light. With clothes this means hanging them out on the line on a sunny day. I am not sure how you acheive this in a kitchen.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 22/04/2008 15:01

I bet you had to clean it too, haylstones. My dp claims he just "doesn't notice" mess like that, convenient that, isn't it?

OP posts:
JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 22/04/2008 15:04

That's interesting pigleto, it's actually a drawer which has the splosh on, so I might try pulling out the drawer and standing it in the garden for a day or two!

Devil, no plastic wrap unfortunately, that would have been awesome though.

I used to have one of those erasers! Going to have a look for it now. Thanks everyone

cillet bang? wouldn't leave it on too long though incase it takes off more than the stain!

redadmiral · 22/04/2008 16:25

Ah. I did wonder if the stains went because of our kitchen being very sunny.

castille · 22/04/2008 16:27

Yes, take the doors off and put them outside in the sun
