Dehumidifier Recs

Looking for dehumidifier recommendations specifically for clothes drying.

I live in a flat with just my partner, don't have a problem with damp/mould however we both have a lot of work uniform to dry and sometimes they dry on the fusty side. I dry them on a clothes airer in our medium size spare bedroom near the window left slightly open.

Thinking of adding a dehumidifier to dry them faster which will hopefully get rid of the occasional smell.
I'm not really interested in the heated airers.

I see Meaco recommended but I'd ideally not want to go over the £100 mark as will be using the radiators too over the winter months.

Any recs most welcome!

I have a Meaco Arete which has a laundry drying function. It's brilliant. Mine is the smaller 12L one as I use it in a small utility room.
I had a cheaper one before but it didn't work well at all I'm afraid. It didn't collect as much water as the Meaco and it was really difficult to empty. I didn't notice much difference in the time it took to dry clothes.

Maybe Meaco is the way to go after all then!

I have a princess 16 litre. Easily dries a clothes horse full of clothes in 2 to 3 hours in a room with the windows shut. Absolute god send, wouldn't be without it now!

We also have a Meaco Arete which is ten times better than the twenty year old one it replaced - funny that.

Lulubo1 · 23/09/2024 18:40

We use a Meaco Arete as well. It's fantastic. It has a laundry setting. Highly recommend it

We have a Princess 20L dehumidifier. We shut it in the kitchen with an airer full of washing and it’ll be mostly dry in a couple hours.

I’ve had the electriQ 12L Quiet Low-Energy Dehumidifier From Appliances direct for a few years now, Cheap enough and energy efficient.

FrapGlart · 23/09/2024 19:17

Also got a Meaco Arete 12L after doing tonnes of research, also a which best buy. Look out for deals, there was a special offer at argos when we got ours.

Have had other brands over the years but now have a large Meaco which is great, with 5 year warranty.

EdgeOfSixty · 23/09/2024 19:50

Meaco are definitely good

ParisGellerFTW · 23/09/2024 20:03

Splashed out on 2 Meacos to deal with terminally damp house. They are great. Crazy how much water they pull out of the air. And yes, laundry dries in no time with one of these nearby

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 23/09/2024 21:20

Think it's going to have to be a Meaco then.

I’ve had cheaper ones but the Meaco is by far the best I’ve had. Worth the money, imo.

Hello - following the good reviews on here, I've just bought an arrete 2 - a couple of questions; are we supposed to leave it on all night in cold weather and also, I have a heated airer so do I run the arrete also? Thanks.

If your house is damp or you are getting lots of condensation, then yes leave it on overnight until things improve. It will shut off if the water tanks gets full.
I also use a heated airer and yes I use the dehumidifier alongside it to keep the room dry. Unfortunately I bought the heated airer first and then the dehumidifier. If I had my time again, I wouldn't bother with the heated airer as the dehumidifier is far more effective.
