Hello

Is there a clever way to get tea stains off spoons? I've been scrubbing with not much effect.

Scrub with bicarb.

Magic sponge is good for this (and all sorts of other stuff eg marks on walls)

My nan use to use denture tablets.

Bleach.

I use a scouring pad, - easy.

(Edited to add, - the only teaspoon this doesn't work with, is an ancient random teaspoon, which isn't stainless steel).

I use sodium percarbonate for all tea stains and in my white washes. It's sold as Violets mineral bleach but you can buy the generic for about half the price

Cup of boiled water with dishwasher powder and leave to soak.
A wool scourer, dishwashing liquid rinse under the tap and you scrub it.

I make a thick paste with bicarb and either vinegar or lemon juice and scrub with that. The stains come off and bicarb changes to a browny colour, but perfectly shiny, clean spoons!

Denture tablets (like pp’s nan!) or sterilising tablets are fantastic for getting stains off cutlery, mugs, etc and for cleaning awkward-to-scrub items.

Do the denture tablets remove the 'bloom' from glasses?

If not, does anyone know what does?

MingingTiles · 22/09/2024 11:45

Thank you. Just tried the bicarbonate idea and it worked brilliantly 😁

Is the bloom from the dishwasher? If so, it's probably limescale. Wipe it with lemon juice or white vinegar, and rinse.
