Tell me your glass cleaning secrets

Hi Ladies

We'll be leaving a rental property in a couple of months and the landlords have been extremely good to us through some difficult circumstances. We'll be paying for an end of lease clean but in advance of that I want to do some real deep cleaning in some areas so I know it's absolutely sparkling and fresh to hand back to them.

My current bugbear is the glass shower partition. It's a wet room so the partition goes right down to the floor and gets a lot of splash back. It's heavily water marked, and hard to really scrub hard at ground level.

Please share your top tips for cutting through dirt and staining on glass!

Thanks in advance.

For the water marks - Viakal or other proprietary limescale remover. Rubber glove, damp cloth, liberally slather the viakal on and smear it around. Leave for 5 mins. Rinse down with shower. No scrubbing needed. For any stubborn corners, viakal on a toothbrush.

For the sparkling glass finish - Turtlewax (yes the stuff you use on your car). Apply in exactly the same way as you would on your car. Stops mirrors misting as well. I use it on my windows as you buff the streaks out.

karcher handheld window vacuum. Total game changer

Oh excellent, thanks both!

For the limescale, it needs to be viacal - it is excellent. Also recommend e-cloths for normal windows & glass.

I'm finding vinegar spray works on my limescaleey shower screen
Spray - wipe - them have my shower and squeegee once done to reduce the drips

Shame DH cant also do this alsoHmm

Once you've got the limescale off definitely a window vac. Mine is only a cheap Aldi one but it is amazing. I had tried everything (windolene, vinegar, spray glass cleaner, squeegees, rolled up newspaper, etc) on my windows and mirrors over the years and they never looked good. I wasn't confident that half an hour of battery life would be enough before a recharge but it does the job so quickly that I can do all my mirrors and windows more than once easily on one charge.

Just wanted to come back and say thank you, as it happened Viakal was on offer in the supermarket the next time I went in so I got some and it's worked a treat! Smile
