I hate ironing and would like to get a clothes steamer.

Are they any good?

Any recommendations please for reasonable priced ones that are good all all fabrics?

Thanks

I have this one and it's genuinely changed my life. Can't remember the last time I used my iron, no need to get the ironing board out or anything, just pop the garment on a hanger, steam, then done!

@BonniesSlave that's good to hear. Thank you so much!

I bought one from Asda for £14, with the aim of doing away with my ironing board.
It is amazing, but then I have only a few things that need ironing, a couple of linen shirts and cotton jumpers. If you iron a lot, you will need a bigger steamer.

My problem is that I wish to steam them while they are hanging - where do you hang the items? I am managing by hanging them from a door knob and doing the job on my knees! (I imagine you could use an ironing board)
The lead is not very long - so if the steamer has a lead, think about where it will be plugged in and where you will steam the clothes.
Despite my minor inconvenience, it is so much easier than ironing.
It takes a while for the steamer head to cool down after use, so as with an iron, you will need a safe place for it to cool.
The steam is hot. You do not want to get any nearer the steam than you would a hot iron plate.

We have a Tefal steamer. It’s so much easier and convenient than ironing. I can definitely recommend it.

Vidflex, what is it?

It would not help me, as my flex would not reach, but may be useful to OP, if she has a more sensible steamer.

Just a warning: a steamer isn't a substitute for a iron. My iron broke recently, so I have been trying to make do with a travel iron and a steamer, and it's a massive pain! The water reservoir is very small compared to that of an iron.

I have the 2 in 1 steam genie by Russell Hobbs and do most items in steamer mode, it’s great and has much more steam time than the unbranded cheapie I got on Amazon that also leaked water everywhere.

I don’t sit there and do baskets full of clothes at a time, I only steam items that need it as and when I am wearing them so it’s perfect for that.

Which reviewed steamers. Think the philips one about 30 quid came top

What sort of water do you use in your steamer? Instructions say distilled, but that’s not readily available in the UK. Do you use normal tap water? We’re in a very hard water area…
