-collect and review all information on work
pensions
-book boiler service -chase ground rent bill
-sort email rules to get rid of junk
sort notifications on phone to reduce
-clear contacts and refine on phone
-sort through aps
-arrange some direct debits for savings
-review all utilities for best deals
-input all half terms until the end of 2025

any other little admin jobs for organisation/a clear out to make life a bit cleaner and more organised? Thanks in advance

I'm spending some time off work and want to spend it becoming more organised to help me be calm.

I'm planning:
Review pension and investments.
Organise Will.
Organise photos and make some photo books.
Sort through all my clothes and clear out and organise storage.
Clean out all kitchen cupboards.
Unsubscribe from unwanted emails.
Take coats to be dry cleaned.
Take watches to be fixed and jewellery to be altered.

I'm really looking forward to it. I feel things have got out of control and I want some time organising and getting some peace.

Declutter
Check and organise health appointment, smear, dentist, over 40 health check, optitians
Sort out freezer
Plan holidays
moneysavingexpert has an overhaul your finances in a day article. Although to me it looks likeit would take longer

I rely in notifications in my calendar on my phone. In particular I note a month before car insurance, house insurance, boiler insurance is due and then to compare sites. Same for phone and utilities. Martin Lewis ftw.

Once a month I table time for DH and I to review banks and savings etc. We don't always manage it but we try!

Once a month I remind myself to change all my passwords and check app permissions on my phone.

We always check on Sunday night what the week brings, and I sort out work outfits for the week. We aren't so good at meal planning though!

These things help us keep on track.

Oh We have a Gmail which is the name of our house, all bills and joint correspondence goes to this and we use the calendar as our joint calendar to aid the above!

Check for old direct debits you should have cancelled

Oh thank you so much! Loving this. I’ve done a lot of decluttering and bought some better organisation solutions. Half way through the kitchen. Direct debits and Will added to the list. Health a good shout, did dentist but not smear.

It has amazed me for some of these jobs how quickly tI have done them but the mental load of starting seemed huge. Being off work and not pressuring myself has meant I have unlocked thE ability to get through them!

the spice cupboard was funny, had something be a BB of 2016! Keep anymore ideas coming and I’ll have another look on Martin Lewis. I did sort some share stuff out.

A few ideas:

sort through paperwork (bills, accounts etc)
check online tax (always good to ensure any benefits are listed properly)
I have just do a scan on direct debits and cancelled some
old ones
added those reminders into my diary-great tip! We share a calander with out iphones and it works well but there is more I can do with it to help
making a list of all our regular buys from the supermarket, I need to budget more on shopping and might try a monthly delivery of these things and do a list so I can check offers too
scheduled in pets flea and worm treatments reminders
booked in pets annual jabs and diarised (they do remind us but better to have it listed)
I have a chip account (massively recommended these) and I’ve added some goals for savings (like car maintenance and more borings ones outside of things like holidays)
made a list of things I can sell on vinted

keep anymore suggestions incoming. I’m going to try and keep the trend up when back working as it is a great sense of achievement ticking things off!

I'm trying to tidy up my emails so I'm aiming to unsubscribe from things I don't need anymore. I try to unsubscribe from 10 at a time.

I'm trying to get ahead with the year by writing in college term times & I want to map out my years worth of annual leave.

Great thread @40thbirthday .

The unsubscribe button has been a revelation!! I’m not sure why it needed this time off to do some of these tasks, so I’ll try and keep it up.

A few other ideas:

added emergency contacts on my apple account
unsubscribed to some text services I get (retailers)
reviewed all app notifications and reduced
reviewed follower requests on social media and cleared (I had 250 on instagram!)
registered new hoover for the warranty service
cleared out phone contacts, some really old and outdated ones that needed deleting

Outside of that I have been sorting through the house and kitchen. Little and often and it’s working.

These might not be the most exciting ideas or tasks but I feel miles better and with each poster above it’s given me ideas!
