Budget washing powder or liquid

Laundry is a big part of a weekly routine. As of recent on a tight budget. Looking at the prices for the detergents, tend to get store brand powder as a cheapest option, yet I want keep decent results after all. Last time had Lidl colour safe powder and wasn't sure if it washed anything at all, not even mentioning lack of any scent. So I'm looking for a better "budget-safe" option and I still need to divide colours, whites and delicates...

Was thinking to get DAZ washing powder (80 loads), seems to be a good deal for a powder that can be used on both colour and white. But looking at the ingredients, can it wash well at all?

Has anyone compared DAZ to their regular washing detergent? Is it actually universal and worth it? Hmm

I used Daz for year on whites and colours.
I find it cleans & smell pleasant. I use persil liquid on darks as I found the daz faded them.

HoweverI now need to find a replacement for Daz as I cant seem to find it anywhere, not sure if its been discontinued.

Can’t tell you about Daz , but Sainsburys Bio powder was rated best by which, so that’s what I use. I have recently tried Costco’s liquid but it was very poor.

Found DAZ "mega pack" 4kg on Tesco's website for £10.50. Not sure if it's available in stores, but it is actually getting more difficult to get any bulk size items without ordering online (which prompts to spend more to meet minimum order fee when buying online)

I've always just used Lidl/ Aldi/ Tesco own brand bio washing liquid and conditioner. Eco wash overnight so it soaks for longer, come out very clean. Never had any issues ? I mean yeah the clothes don't stink of fake scent but I wear nice perfume anyway so I wouldn't want them to?

I just use Tesco own brand liquid (colours and whites). No complaints.

I've used Aldi's Almat for a few months now. It washes well, even things which are heavily stained and I know it is highly rated.

Very cheap and washes well but barely any scent: Asda just essentials buological washing powder.(see reviews on asda website)
Aldi biological laundry liquid (green label and cap amounts to the same price as the asda one at the same price. Leaves a clean smell.
I've only ever bought own brand detergent and I don't use fabric softener.
I don't know how much it is but Aldi lavender scented washing powder is lovely and smells like the Bold 2 in 1 one that is the brand it is trying to copy.

Another vote for the Aldi one. Have also used Waitrose and Sainsburys. Came to conclusion they're all much of a muchness, and I regret buying branded washing liquid/conditioner for so many years! 😬

Tesco non bio powder is great. Sainsbury's non bio powder is also great. Both about £4 for a large box.

I was using Aldi powder for our whites and it was really good. (However, we've switched back to Ariel).

I just looked up 'Daz washing powder for whites and colours' and I would only use it for whites. It may not contain bleach but it does contain optical brighteners which could fade colours.

Have a look on Amazon subscriptions. We have about 50 items set up (we skip most) including tomato ketchup and we get 15% every month as we always easily make the minimum of 5. I was getting Persil colour liquid for a really good price. (However, I've gone back to Waitrose own brand colour as I feel it cleans as well but fades less).

We use Surf powder and find it's economical, cleans very well and smells good. It also doesn't affect my eczema prone DD's skin. I prefer powder to liquid as it seems to go further and doesn't gunge up the machine like liquid. The cardboard box feels more eco friendly than a plastic bottle too. Also, haven't used fabric conditioner for many years with no noticeable differences!

Thanks for the advice about subscriptions, really useful!
And yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking about the optical brighteners. So at the end of the day, I still think it is "safer" to stick to different detergents for colours and whites.
