How to keep spiders out from washing ??

I'm so tired (and also scared) of spiders ending up in the clothes closet when we hang them out to dry. Especially in DC's clothes as they have been bitten / had irritated skin.

Does anyone have any tips on how to make sure spiders don't jump/ hide on the washing. I do look for them when brining the clothes inside but they always end up anyway.

What country do you live in? I’ve never heard of this being a thing.
We put conkers in the corners of the room in Autumn to keep the spiders away but that’s in the UK.

Bloody hell where do you live? Spiders biting children?

nameynamenamenamename · 27/07/2024 20:09

Do you have trees or large shrubs near the clothes line? If so, could you move it?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 27/07/2024 20:13

There's as many spiders that normally live indoors as there are that live outside.

You could dry things indoors, but that would be pretty pointless when they could be indoor ones.

Just shake things out when you take them off the line.

I dry things outside and then stick them in the tumble dryer for 10mins or so to get rid of any bugs (not specifically spiders but in general)

I'm in the UK. Greater London to be specific. 🤦🏻‍♀️

What's conkers and where do I get them? I moved to UK about a decade ago. Always have dried clothes inside / tumble dryer. But only a few days ago when the weather is warm thought of saving up on electric bills but end up with spiders on the clothes. Even after I give them a shake.

Don't have so many spiders in my home country.

No it's just grass in the garden. Couple of plants on the sides. But every morning loaded with spiders. On the garden toys / around trampoline / on the garden sofa.

I sometimes spray around garden furniture with spider spray but the rain washes them out and also it's not safe for kids to be around. Please help.

Sounds like an abnormal number of spiders. Try planting marigolds.

Where are you from that doesn't have spiders? They're the sign of a healthy ecosystem - despite your attempts to poison everything.

Are you sure they're spiders and not other bugs? I occasionally get a few very small spiders or other insects on laundry but they fly off or easily shake off.

I've never heard of a spider spray either, but spiders kill other insects so I'm happy to see them both inside and outside.

Thank you I'll do that. I also tried planting mint but that didn't bother them.

This. ‘Mini beasts’ biting your children in the U.K. are more likely to be some kind of insect than spiders.

I also live in Greater London and have never been bitten by a spider.

Shake your washing before putting it in the basket.
