We have a water hammer at the moment and the worst offender is the washing machine which is a Samsung Eco Bubble. It's about 7 years old. I get it is to make it eco-friendly but each time it fills there is a clunk in the pipes. It fills twice during the most-used cycle, each fill seems to be bit by bit, so maybe 15 clunks per one full fill, 30 clunks in total. Weirdly there is a clunk inside the washing machine itself which occurs simultaneously with the water hammer. The sound is like tin on tin and only on the second re-fill... I may ask @PigletJohn if he has any idea what's going on there! It's very odd! I thought it might be the hose hitting the back of the machine as it's a tight squeeze where it's fitted but there are no weird sounds coming from the machine on the the spin cycle when you'd expect a lot of vibration so I doubt it's the hose. No coins in the machine etc.. I've checked!
Anyhow, I digress. We area awaiting yet another plumber to try to work out the hammer issue and a leaking loo now as well. We want to save for a new washing machine if the hammer can't be fixed, but it needs to be one that does not fill bit by bit.
Does a machine that fills in one go, even if it does it twice during the cycle, exist? Or have all these eco models put paid to such a thing? If the hammer can't be fixed two clunks would be preferable to 30! Thanks!
