Does a big clear out make you happy?

I'm not an hoarder! That's what l always tell people.
I do " save" things.. sentimental items.. from daughters and Grandkids and have a huge special box for these.
Today my cleaner came... and between us ( mainly her) she helped me sort out the pantry.. the kitchen cupboards. the utility room.. the spare bedroom l use for my sewing room and my bedroom drawers.. now my dustbin is overflowing.. l have given away an airfryer a slow cooker.. a steamer.. a crockery set.. two large backpacks.. DVDs.. an hairdryer .
A corded vacuum( all spare just in case! ) lol.. and various tinned and packet food items to people in need on a free FB site.
My mind feels less cluttered as well as my house.
We are going to do some more next week and tackle the shed.
She was pleased with the extra money l gave her.

Yes, yes, yes! I love a clear out! It makes me feel so much better. Sometimes, if I’m really hormonally wound up, chucking stuff out releases stress.

Definitely. Love a good clear out. I’ve come to the decision as I’ve got older that less clutter and ‘stuff’ is definitely better for me. Every few weeks I get rid of toys, clothes etc that are no longer used or needed.

Absolutely it makes me feel better. I revisit my Swedish Death Clean every January and find more to throw out.

Absolutely. Getting rid of all the baby stuff when we decided we were definitely done was so liberating. I love putting things on free groups or Vinted. I declutter constantly, as soon as I've done the whole house I'm back to start at the beginning again.

My friends laugh at me because I decorate my house in bright colours and crazy wallpaper but I consider myself a minimalist at heart.

We recently had to move out of house with all our stuff while work was done on it.
Before moving back we had a massive sort out and gave away a lot of stuff.
The house feels empty now but much tidier

I have not heard of this before, I've just googled. OMG I am calling it this from now on!

It's great, isn't it? I'm nowhere near death(fingers crossed) but I don't want my daughter to have to deal with all my stuff. I divided family photos between DD and ds, only keeping a few. Dd has most of my jewellery as I rarely wear any. I have a rule that if I buy a book, one has to go. But leaving it to January is great motivation. And it's cathartic.

I'm in my late forties and have this attitude too

Absolutely!!
I am brutal as well and quite unsentimental about most things - I have one box in a kallax unit with my sentimental bits and pieces in, and husband has one for each of his DC.

Am forever gutting a cupboard and ditching anything we don't need anymore...

the DSC's rooms drive me insane as they have so much 'stuff' they don't want to part with. The youngest still has a pair of pyjamas from 6yrs ago because they have memories from our first holiday together which is sweet but why?? It's not like they will ever fit again and I made them a photo book of that holiday, however I let it go as it's not my 'stuff' to bin!!
