Ants?

We appear to have a delightful gathering of ants by our front door. Inside, just past the porch bit (if there was a second door it would be a porch, it is more just a big mat ).

How do I get rid of em? Bearing in mind I have a 2 yr old who is likely to lick anything interesting looking off the floor

The floor is clean, it isn't like they have been attracted to a big sticky bit of the carpet

I have previously bought those "ant trap" things from Lakeland. They are very effective. They are a small round plastic box, you break off the tabs and the ant bait is exposed, attracting the ants. The only problem would be your 2 yr old, but perhaps you could find a way of hiding them, but keeping them accessible to the ants (who will smell the bait).

We are getting Ants in the kitchen, a few at a time but every day, and they appear to be coming from behind & around the dishwasher!! Can't see where to put powder/bait/traps as they are not swarming & spread out, but DH is driving me mad as he is scared of them !!

Find out where they're coming from and put a line of cinnamon on their trail, they won't cross it. I used to have them by my back door (when I had a garden!) but this trick worked every time. It's non toxic too so OK if you have small children or pets.

I have ants at the front door too (will be really worried when the little bastards learn to knock...)I have put down an Ant Bait thingy which is a yellow box that you prick with a pin and DC can't access and eat contents BUT I have had that Ant Bait in the cupboard for about 9 years so not sure if it is still effective and will therefore buy another one.

Anyone got any brilliant ideas for flying ants? Had abit of a problem with these for the last couple of years, just in about July time....They are disgusting, and they are coming from under my kitchen cupboards, i tried the ant bait thing but didn't work, as they fly i wondered if i needed something stronger/different? Any ideas gratefully received as these things are quite horrific!

Get the pest control people to come and spray now - we have been done twice and the guy yesterday said all the queens or workers (the ones who go out to find a new nest at the end of the summer) will have been killed so fingers crossed we won;t get ay flying ones.

For nests outside where they come in stick a jar of jam with the lid off outside and they have a ready supply of food so won;t need to come inside and ransack your cupboards!

SOunds crazy but it works!

I had ants last year put ant powder down managed to get rid of them. I had people advising me to put talc down as ants don't like feel of it also lavander is supposed to keep them away as they don't like smell.

We put Nippon gel on a piece of cardboard or plastic and lay it on their trail for the night. In the morning you can just throw whats left away so the kids can't touch it. |They are meant to be mainly nocturnal (ants, not kids)

Hooray for the Cinnamon. We put it down a few nights ago and haven't seen a single ant since!!!!!
