Can I stick DD's Brownie badges onto her sash, instead of sewing them on?

What do you reckon? I'm useless at sewing. I've sewn on 2 of them, but it killed my fingers - I have now bought a thimble, but I also have some fabric glue. Would it work, do you think?

Well dd2's friends mum sticks her dd's badges onto her brownie jacket with fabric glue, so i'd have though sticking them on the sash would work yes.

I hate the damn things. My dd's brown owl is mad keen on them doing badges and we have at least one every 4-6 weeks. Then there are the real big circle ones, for outdoor challenges etc.

I think MamaG had a thread on this before and may have stuck them on with fabric glue. I sometimes save them up until my Mil comes down on holiday!

CrackerOfNuts · 11/04/2008 16:30

My mum sews dd's on.

ScienceTeacher · 11/04/2008 16:31

Those sashes are awful things to sew anything onto - which is why I haven't sewn any of DD's badges on yet.

JackieNo · 11/04/2008 16:33

I think I'll take that as permission to give it a go. DD's been going to Brownies since last September, and I've got about 5 or 6 to sew on. My fingers just aren't up to it. Thanks all.

I tried that wundaweb stuff that you can use for hems and it was rubbish for badges on sashes, so I will await the verdict on the fabric glue - I didn't think of that.

Dd has gone up to guides now and I haven't sussed out what they put their badges on...

JackieNo · 11/04/2008 16:38

I think it needs to be something you don't have to iron on, because both the sash and badges are so thick, that it would take ages for the heat to get through them. But I have something that you use for sticking things like jewels onto fabric, which I don't think needs heat to work. I'll have to wait till DD gets home, because I can't ever remember where the things go on the sash, so she'll have to remind me.

awww flip dd has just started Brownies and we've just got a badge sash and somehow several badges already. Was thinking I would sit one night and sew 'em on, doddle. seems not....oh dear. Fabric glue sounds pretty good option tho..

SlartyBartFast · 12/04/2008 15:19

glue them on
what a good idea, which i'd thought of that

and since you're unlikely to wash the sash should be ok

SlartyBartFast · 12/04/2008 15:21

mind you you could always staple them on

Mumcentreplus · 12/04/2008 15:21

why dont you use 'wonder web'...it will work and just it case you have to wash it it should be fine..

Mumcentreplus · 12/04/2008 15:22

lol@ staple

CrackerOfNuts · 12/04/2008 15:23

Have just handed dd's jacket and 6 badges to my mum to sit and sew on when she is on nights tonight.

This is by far the easiest method I have found

MamaG · 12/04/2008 15:23

I use wonderweb but badges go on hoody, not sash here

CrackerOfNuts · 12/04/2008 15:24

Yep hoody here too, we don't have a sash at all.
